Do you have them and how do you like them? Do you notice a big difference in sound and wear?

BTW once again your avatar just kills me :inlove: :jerkit: :jedi: :force:

Contrary to what other people say, they are a bit brighter, and I think they wear strings a bit faster. That said, I like the sound and the way they hold up. I wish more manufacturers did them. I have a Warmoth with the SS6105 and I'm working on a second build with the same frets.

I didn't really notice any change in tone, maybe a bit brighter but not much... They feel smooth as glass (when dressed correctly), no resistance at all with bends, I've had my main Juggernaut for 4 years almost and there is literally NO fret wear on it. Haven't noticed any more wear on my strings than usual either, but I'm not real heavy handed either.

avatar is nice huh? don't know who she is, found it on another site and snagged it. ;)

I have them on most of my guitars, and eventually it will be all of them.

I did not notice much difference in tone, but what I did I felt was an improvement.

I don't see how you would have increased string wear because you actually have less friction. However, each person is different, and I tend to change strings often.

The benefits are increased sustain, clarity, smoother vibrato, and of course no fret wear.

I've got them on 2 andersons I have. I don't notice too much of a difference playing except that the ss feels stiffer, if that makes any sense. I don't have 2 similar guitars to compare though. My humbucker guitars all have regular frets and my single coil guitars all have ss.

How much would a full set of SS frets set me back? My main guitar gets played so much that in the 2 years of playing, the fret wear is very visable and I can feel it when I play. I'm going to need a fret dress at some point.

I have them on 4 guitars and just sent my LP in for a refret with SS frets. I love the feel and lack of resistance when bending. If anything, I think the tone is better as well, to my ears. Can't say if strings wear out quicker because I usually change frequently. The fact that they practically show now wear after a couple years of use is icing on the cake. Makes setups very easy.

I have stainless steel frets on my Parker Nitefly, I can't say what it does to the tone because I have never heard that guitar without them. I can say that the Parker isn't overly bright and the frets still look new after 12 years. I like them.

I haven't noticed any change in tone at all but I haven't done any contolled experiements either...if there is a difference its minimal. Tom Anderson claims that they don't affect tone, Ed Roman claims that they do. Who you gonna believe? I know where I'd put my money :D

The most significant thing I noticed is how slippery they are...string bending is absolutely smooth and effortless.

I have always wanted to try out SS frets. I even considered refretting my LP with jumbo SS frets... (I already changed them to 6100  ) heck, I thought about changing the radius to 16 as well. :D
I had 6100's put on the Bumble Bee I put together and I think from now on that will be what I use, I'll be going with SS on my next project.

I loved them on the Suhr I had. Played much smoother than nickel.

Anybody know a place on the east coat that could do a killer good putting some ss frets on a LP?

SS6100 on both of my Warmoths. Will be on anything else I get from here on out.

Play smoothly, bends are so easy. Doubt anybody could really say they alter tone in any direction unless you used the same guitar and did some type of comparison recordings before and after the change.

Get them.

I'm with most of the posters.. I've got SS on two necks, a custom warmoth, and my wolfgang. Love them, never going back to nickle (by choice). I wouldn't *not* buy a guitar with nickle depending on how much I wanted it, but would much prefer the SS frets.

My new Anderson was my first experience with SS frets. I don't know if I am hearing a huge difference in tone but I love the way they feel. Much more slick and smooth. I really love the way they feel. I wouldn't say I will never own another nickel fret guitar. If I had a choice I would certainly go with SS.

I talked to a custom guitar builder and he hates them. Does not recommend them. Can't remember why, something about construction.

A lot of techs don't like working with them, since they wear out standard fret files in one sitting.

I'm not 100% sure, but i think i read that you have to use diamond fret files when working on SS frets!
