I searched and didnt find a hockey thread. If I missed it please point me to it.

I was shocked at how badly Edmonton breat the Panthers in game 4. Before the semi finals I expected Edmonton to win it. After I saw how Floridia beat the Rangers I considered it a toss up. First 3 games of the finals Edmonton looked horrible. Seemed like they finally figured out that you had to get in and get physical to score goals on FLA.

Paul Maurice looked disheveled and worried after game 4. Ive never seen him like that and hes been a coach for somehting like 25 or 26 years. Did FLA play poorly or did EDM figure somehting out towards the end of game three? 8-1 says somehting either way.

I said it to my friends before game 4, Edmonton has figured out how to beat Florida. I say Edmonton wins game 7 decisively. We are witnessing history. Great story. I'm a Rangers fan so it didnt matter to me who won before the series started. I think it would be poetic to see Edmonton win it. They were 2nd from the last spot in the league in November and came back, they came back earlier in the playoffs and are coming back now.

Wish I'd seen this thread earlier, would've added some pages haha. Some short notes:

-Best game of the series by far (not just because it was game 7)
-Florida woke up and went back to playing their game, although Janmark still found a way in behind for his goal
-PKs were solid all series
-Bobrovsky was back to himself, team defense on a few plays also bailed him out, he's probably injured or gonna have some surgery in the offseason unless he was just really gassed
-Skinner should probably have that second one, looks like Reinhart's stick got slightly hit on the shot and caused the puck to come out a bit differently (I play hockey, sometimes goalie, and this sucks to deal with)
-Florida did a better job of stiffing chances in this game, less odd-man rushes, more structured defense
-Edmonton put Draisaitl and McDavid together again in the 3rd but I think they should've kept rolling lines a bit longer, they looked gassed, the last minute was horrific
-No goals for Draisaitl in the series, no points for McDavid in the last two games, last one is always the hardest and they were just shut down
-Barkov is a certified beast and shouldn't be underrated anymore
-McDavid wins the Conn Smythe, eh fine he led the playoffs in scoring, he was the best player, although if Florida ended it in 5 (like they were supposed to :D ) Bobrovsky probably takes it (or maybe Barkov)
-The Canadian drought continues...

There's some more in-depth explanations of why Edmonton was able to come back (basically having a winger cherry-picking up ice to create a 4-on-4 situation in the defensive zone, then transition with speed up-ice). Florida had to completely change how they were approaching this, and they were able to do it.

This wasn't the best series ever, with so many lop-sided games, but that game 7 was well worth watching and one of the best games I've seen in a long time, technically speaking. Congrats to the Panthers they deserved it, Paul Maurice deserved it. Sucks for Edmonton to lose after the start they had to the season, and the comeback in this series. They now have to deal with their UFAs, including Draisaitl, without a cup.
