Kirk, McCoy and the woman helping them with the whales are going to the Hospital to rescue Chekov who is critically injured from the fall on the Aircraft Carrier. They do the ol’ dress as Doc’s and put the woman on a gurney and bluff there way into Chekov’s theater, past the Police with her “severe” condition. They emerge with Chekhov, after fixing him, on the gurney and the Dialog is this…(paraphrasing)
Cop..”How is the patient.”
Kirk..”He’s fine”
Cop..”Hey, didn’t you come in with a woman?”
Kirk, under his breath, as they scurry away…”One little mistake”
Just cracked me up with how that plays in our current modern twisted up world with all the Twitter warriors and cancel outrage. A simple little throw away line that now would probably have people screaming to cancel the movie, the writer’s or Shatner. Probably would demand the line be changed from “One little mistake” to “He’s now living his truth” lol….Anyway, just a little moment that reinforced for me how we are losing the art of simple humor and fun and taking every social change moment way too seriously.
