Started a new project today

I found this 1967 Gretsch Country Gentleman husk on Facebook marketplace the other day and decided to pull the trigger on it.

It had been re bound some time ago and never finished. So it’s a player grade instrument and I decided to make a Franken-Gretsch.

I picked it up today and did the electrical work on it.

The trapeze, bridge, saddle and pickguard material to cover up the hole in the back, should be here Wednesday.

I’m doing a very non traditional electronic layout. No Bigsby. Regular humbuckers.

Well….project FRANKEN-GRETSCH is complete!!

The bridge came in the mail yesterday.

I had to shave the bridge down quite a bit to get the action down to the desired level. The frets are soooo lowwww. For rhythm it’s great. For soloing, it’s tougher.

The tone is a lot darker than I was expecting. It doesn’t sound bad, just different. I guess, in the end, is what I was shooting for.

I’m really happy with the results. It’s a great player and definitely a conversation piece.
