Hey guys,

hope everyone is well.... i was wondering if anyone had any experience with a good quality but portable step down transformer for my engl e530 preamp. I need to be able to use it in feb for a tour in europe as i just put together a small portable rack setup with one and a rocktron velocity 300 power amp and it really sounds great.

Anyone have any suggestions or experience with a specific brand or model step down transformer?

the e530 only draws about 16 watts so i was thinking a 50 watt converter would do ok.

Let me know ! and any info is always greatly appreciated

heres a shot of the new rig....

Living overseas, I keep a few of these:

They are step up/down transformers with stabilization to smooth out the irregular frequencies (HZ) that are common overseas. These 1500 watt ones are way overkill, but I have never had one fail. One thing Nick, they step down to 110V. This in turn will drop the PV on your amps a bit. Sometimes the drag is actually better sounding as it browns the amp somewhat. But, if you have a tube amp that you like to keep biased really warm, you need to bias the tubes up for the lowered voltage. Just don't forget to take them back down when you plug back into 120V wall voltage. I always use these and plug my Furman straight into the transformer.
