Steve Wilson > Everything else.

Also, he's got a killer sense of humor. His crowd banter when I saw them a few weeks ago was hilarious.

Good. Someone needs to do that femi-nazi hard and make her realize she's not a man. :D  I can't stand her and still haven't quite recovered from that "Thank You" video. :bleh: IMO she is also responsible for the current trend of rock singers intentionally pronouncing words wrong, like Stapp and Chad Kroeger. Just sing that damn word and don't try to alter the English language!

Cool cover BTW!

No idea who Wilson is but I think I may be gay because I prefer the original

I really liked the cover

Steven Wilson made the song his own.

I don't get this..I prefer Alanis and don't get the Femi Nazi comment other than as a jealously thing. If you think this is good you should probably catch one of her live performances and I no Alanis fanboy. I have never even bought one of her discs, but I have seen some of her stuff live and was amazed at how good both she and her band was. At least she wrote the song. He is merely performing it. I found it pretty bland at that. As for Alanis, she writes great songs, has a beautiful voice, and a completely identifiable vocal style...whether you like it or not. Your boy Wilson obviously does....which is why he covers her. To each his own.

Yes, jealousy. You hit it on the head there. ;)

No seriously I just really can't stand her songs or her voice, or her persona for that matter. FWIW I thought Jagged Little Pill was kind of good when it came out, but then she spiraled downward faster than a turd and with about as much class. Just my opinion.

By the way, did anyone else notice around 1:20 Steven Wilson says "How bout changin a line cuz it don't make sense"?  That line was originally something about invisible dangling carrots or something like that. :loco:

I like Alanis, and her songwriting is pretty damn good, but any Porcupine Tree album will tell you that Steven Wilson is no slouch. He's right up there with Roger Waters and John Lennon as a lyricist IMO. And musically he's light years ahead of anything Morisette has or will ever do.

And stuff like Collapse the Light Into Earth or Lazarus is just beautiful.

I am not questioning his work...I have no idea who he is. I will check him out. I am merely talking about his performance of her song, and comparing it to her performance of her song. Like I said, he must have some respect for her to cover her. I personally never really listened to her until I saw this particular show (the one I put a clip up of) on palladia...and then I went back and listened to some of her stuff and realized it was pretty damn good.

I prefer to listen to something that doesn't sound like a bra commercial
