There's just something about a stock old Marshall i can't resist. Somehow every piece is unique and tells a story.
This 1972 50w head is a recent purchase.. it had a few mods, but no holes. So i spend a bit of time sourcing out all the NOS original components I needed, and i put it back to '72 original spec.. (with great help from the metro forum) It sounds incredible! Especially through this '68 cab with g12m's

I added a Lar/Mar PPIMV just to check it out, and the amp rips. It's definitely a very raw and unrefined tone which is super angry yet very old school... love it. By no means modern haha. I know this threat is about stock Marshalls, so ill have it converted back asap ;)

Post your old Marshall rigs! :D

Beautiful dude! Those late 60's/very early 70's basketweave cabs are haunting me. I need one!

Let's get this straight.

You unmodded a modded amp and then remodded it. Then started a thread about stock amps?

Ok, cool. ;)

Very sexy pic. Congrats, looks awesome (minus the Fred Astair board :D )

Basically yes ;) The PPIMV is just to try it out as I wrote.. ill have it unsoldered in a jiffy, no holes drilled. I actually like the tone better stock with a good boost.

yes and yes. I have a 78 JMP and a 73 straight cab, all stock. Can only REALLY be appreciated once played in band context. I got some big smiles from the other guys in last rehearsal ;)

Freakin nice! I'm getting a stock '78 2203 + cab with blackbacks shipped from Dan G tomorrow. Dan has just been servicing it cause, the stack is bought in the UK. Can't wait. No mods, just set into the best a stock 2203 can sound. Will also get some photos up.

Pretty much stock now except for more filtering and one small change in the preamp.

'69 plexi 100 on top

'68 plexi Supertremolo 100 2nd from top

1959RR not vintage really....but it will be someday!

I want the Wizard ... !!! :D

Here are mine. All are stock circuits, but some parts aren't original on the 50 watters.

'68 SL

'69 50 watt (bass circuit)

'75 50 watt (lead)

'76 50 watt (lead)

Also got a 2204 from 1978 which is stock except for one small modification, so I won't post that one.

Fuck the Wizard!

Does the tremolo work on that super trem?
Now now, its a killer amp.

No the tremolo circuit was gone when I got it. Going to put it back in someday, if i can find the parts.

I read somewhere that removing the tremelo makes the amp sound better, but I have no idea of that's true. Any thoughts?

That has to be the coolest Marshall cab I've ever seen. I think I can smell it through my computer.
