I had the original tremolo on my american standard. Impossible to do anything with it and keep the guitar in tune! Even with the locking pegs, so I updated it with an used Fender mini-Floyd that came with the American special a few years ago. My god, I can do almost everything that I did on a Floyd and the guitar keep the tune so well!

that's cool! I always wondered if it was more the locking nut or the bridge that made a floyd work so well.

I've pondered replacing the bridge on my American standard strat with something else..hmm

On my American std 2012 Strat I put a Callaham block with bar (totally solid, no wiggle) and Callaham saddles, worked on the nut a little and use big bends nut sauce and a roller string tree and it works really really well and most of my other guitars have Floyds. Sounds really great too, added DiMarzio Areas and 500k volume pot and kills clean and especially for higher gain strat sounds. Very quiet too. Cool this worked out so well for you!

Yeah, those "Fender Deluxe Locking Tremolos" by Floyd Rose are awesome. Hard to find these days though.

Two things that piss me off though: no individual saddle-height adjustment, and to adjust the intonation you basically have to take the bridge off the guitar and attack the screws under the base plate. Stupid design.

But if you don't mind filling and redrilling your posts a little wider, this is the next step - this is the best bridge Floyd Rose has ever made, hands down. My main guitar these days:

The Deluxe Locking Tremolo is basically that but Fenderized.

My God I want one!

Yep. It's awesome. Solid as a rock.

It's essentially an OFR but with none of the components related to fine tuning. Guthrie Govan's using one on his latest Charvel prototype.

No, they're not - they're at standard Floyd spacing, which is 74mm pole-centre to pole-centre. Fender American 2-point posts are 55.9mm.

Wel then how is this usable on a Strat?
Is it?

EJ is using tat Super Vee trem

Drill holes at 74mm spacing, filling in previous holes if necessary. Install Floyd Rose trem.

Ouch. I'll pass on that.

Or you could just buy an aftermarket or genuine Fender body pre-drilled for posts at 74mm. The red Strat in my pic above is the body from a Fender Sambora sig model I bought from reliablefender on Ebay, and I bought it because I wanted to install one of those bridges on it. Actually the Floyd was the first bit of the guitar I bought and then I built around that!
