A strat with 3 single coil, is it possible to change the pickguard and put a duncan JB on the bridge? Ever tried?

Thanks

Yup.....I did it on my very 1st guitar.
Had to get a router and knock out a bridge cavity large enough for a humbucker. I bought a new pickguard from WD (this was back around 1985) And believe it .....dropped in a Duncan JB.

You can install a JB Jr., otherwise the body has to be routed to fit a humbucker.

Just because a strat has 3 single coils doesn't mean that it's routed for only 3 single coils. Take off the pickguard and confirm whether or not it needs to be routed.

Yeah.....eventually I routed the "swimming pool" in the middle and put in 3 humbuckers.
I really molested that guitar bad. But learned ALOT on it!
Think I painted it like 5 times....installed a Floyd....yeah.....it was fun.

Modern American Standards and Deluxes are routed H/S/H. Most Mexican strats are routed S/S/S......unless they come stock with a humbucker

I think its a stacked single right? Basically a humbucker in a single coil form?
Never played one. Hear that they rock though.

Actually I have found the opposite... especially with signature,or custom shop strats. They are routed for their intended purpose on the American strats. The Mexican CNC's universally just route a "swimming pool".

Custom shop is a different story.....you are right in that they are routed as intended. I'm only talking about Standards and Deluxes (they are all H/S/H underneath). I had 2 Mexican sig models and they were S/S/S.

YEah mine was an old Squire bullet....tobacco sunburst strat Made in Japan. I really mangled that one bad.
Actually was a decent guitar. Had a Nice Telecaster neck on it.
Looked like this. Cool for me now in my 40's....not cool as a teen.

I have 5 American Standards and they're all routed H/S/H.

Love my JB jr. in my American Standard Strat......no routing necessary either!
