Stratocasters

I dig strats when other people play them, but never could get them to work for me. I spent ages a few years back trying to find one that spoke to me, found one after a long search and even then rarely reached for it over my LPs. Ended up letting it go and getting a PRS Custom 22, which I play way more than I ever played the Strat. Would still love a Strat but….

I went a long time not caring about Strats, despite them partially being a reason for me wanting to play to begin with. I put my Gilmour Strat together just to nerd out on Floyd songs but that thing plays and sounds so good I barely put it down for the last year and a half. It completely changed my mind about Strats, I ended up buying another one and I’ve got ideas for a few more partscasters (Holmes/Mars Strat namely).

I think a big reason I didn’t care for so long is I never played one that sounded amazing or played great, or came close to both at the same time. I figured it could have been a “Those work for other people, just not me” kinda things, but I just needed to play the right Strat. Now I love ‘em. There’s tones I want to get now I never even thought I’d give a shit about. Edge of breakup tones especially. I certainly realized really quick why many people end up gravitating towards blues licks on a Strat’s neck pickup; it’s fuckin’ fun.

The sunburst one has a 1” neck on it, I love handing that thing to other players without saying a word just to see their reaction.

I’m a huge strat fan. Wish I bought a vintage refin one before covid. The neck pickup in particular is what does it for me. I usually swap out strat bridge pickups with either vintage Bill Lawrence stacked humbuckers, Jaguar pickups or a few others

The Professional II Stratocaster I got about a year ago finally gave me a feel and sound I knew I'd never get sick of. I'm a Les Paul guy but love having a handy Strat. The humbucker is great in this and not honky sounding and the single coils sound so good.

I like em a lot but I do not sound like Gary Moore on one but wish I did. The red one is a Knopfler sig and the black one is a mid 90's Japan body partscaster with YJM pickups. Im a huge Gary Moore fan and got the red one because of him.

Do you like the YJM pickups? I have a new YJM bridge model in a sealed box. I just need a Strat to put it in. First world problems. LOL

Hey JohnnyGtar maybe you could make a partscaster like I did. I do like the YJM pickups. I only use the front and back one and must say the front one sounds really good. The bridge is not as powerful as I would like but its cool. Im always running a tube screamer anyway.
