I've been using one of the string venders in this poll for many years. Recently I’ve been finding some poor quality assurance with one of them. I’ve been breaking many 1st and 6th strings as of late and it’s unacceptable. I know my axe well and it has nothing to do with any of its components.

So it's time for change.

A number of electric guitar string venders I've tried and used over the years that I just do not like are:

none of the above....I've been using GHS Boomers exclusively since the mid to late 80's

Anyone else around these parts play electric guitar besides "Shawn Lutz"?

Thanks Shawn! GHS (Gould, Holcomb and Solko) electric guitar strings never lasted very long for me.

The highlights in Zaks hair look professionally done. So I wonder how that went at Quick Clips?

Hello Mr. Zack, ( he is old), may I take your leather coat? and those spikes too, and that leather neck collar may react with the hair treatment, so you need to take that off as well. Are we going for a creamy blonde streak to a bleached blonde white?

How metal that must have been.

Ernie Ball hybrid slinky and Elixers on my acoustic.

You might try the Thomastik strings. They lasted really well for me, but for the money, I'm a D'Addario man.

Been using D'Addarios since the early 80's. Never any problems so no reason to change.

Neither.

I've been using Dean Markley regulars for, oh, about 23 years. If they're sold out, I go for Ernie Ball 10-46's. I love the Markley's, but have never had an issue with either those or the Slinkys.

D'Addarios I HAVE had issues with in the past, when I have been forced to use them.

Electric strings I really like D'Addario or Curt Mangan. I find Curt Mangans to be a bit brighter, so I use those on my darker guitars. :)

Can't answer the poll because I own some Dunlop string set but, haven't tried them yet. Here is where I'm at though:

D'Addario for 10's
Ernie Ball for 9's

And Elixir Nanoweb for when I just don't feel like changing strings (over a year in some cases and still sound GREAT!)

I've never had problems with any string brands actually. But I generally use Ernie Ball since they're easy to find just about anywhere.

I always used Gibson strings. I always noticed that they lasted longer without corrosion and stayed fresh sounding longer then the others. They hardly broke as easy as the others either. Then this past 6 months I must have gotten a bad batch as all the wound strings weren't totally breaking but the wind would break and separate at every frett and this happened on 3 different guitars on the A and D strings. Hopefully they fixed the problem.

Ernie Ball Reg Slinky for me.....on repair guitars for customers if not specified, it's Daddario.

If your strings are breaking in the middle of the string (where it's not touching anything) that's the string's fault.

If it's somewhere else it is your guitar's fault (unless you are using metal picks and breaking in that area).
