Hey Guys,

I have a reverse CBS headstock guitar with vintage style sting trees like the ones below:

They always felt a bit cheap, so when I put them on my new neck with reverse headstock, they covered the Low E, A, D, and G strings. Well, last night when I got the neck back from my tech, I was stretching the strings a bit and during the stretch on the low E, the top string tree just came off! It flew across the room, so we completely lost it. Screw and all.

So, maybe I tugged too heard, but not any more than usual; however the difference is that I don't usually have a string tree on my low E's on my other guitars, because they are not reverse headstocks.

I'm looking for a string tree that is durable and will handle a gauge .56 low E string. I see several types: Fender Vintage, Fender American Std. Series, barrels, rollers, Graphtech TUSQ, etc.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Well isn't the screw strength really the culprit here. The tree did not break correct? I'd say use anything you want but make sure they are well attached.

Thanks, guys! I still need to replace it since it flew off and we could not find it anywhere in our very messy jam room. So, still looking for a good, sturdy replacement with GOOD parts.

Are staggered tuners an option? You can then eliminate the string trees...

Hmmm...Not looked at staggered tuners, but would rather just get a durable string tree as it's cheaper.
