Hey guys, from what I've read here over the last couple of years, it seems like the Strymon pedals have a pretty good reputation. I've played my friend's Blue Sky pedal, and it sounds lush and great overall- this is my only experience with the company. Are the pedals worth their $300 price tag?

From lurking and reading numerous posts here over the years, it always seems like discussions around delay pedals come back to people recommending the Strymon Timeline, Strymon El Capistan, the Eventide Timefactor, and the TC Flashback series (although some others are mentioned as well- Digitech, MXR, etc). However, one pedal I have yet to see mentioned is the Strymon DIG delay. The videos I've seen of it, including Pete Thorn's, sound awesome: (

Have any of you tried it out yet? How does it stack up against the previously mentioned pedals given the price?

I've used my trusty Boss DD-5 for ages, but all this talk and reading of delays with a bunch of new features and settings has me contemplating trying something new. I already have a Ditto X2, so looper functions don't really matter to me, but the modulated settings, tap tempo, and dotted 8ths settings on a couple of the pedals definitely have my attention. What say ye?

Thanks in advance! Cheers

Eh, if you're a live player just find the Boss tap tempo pedal on CL for $20 and your good. The DD-5 is great and will last forever.

The pedals that do all sorts of things are good at home.

Just an opinion.

I gave up my rack mount effects unit for an El Capistan. I run it through the effect loop and it sounds great. No noise and it does not color your tone.

I tried the Timeline the other day and it didn't colour my tone, I had a Flashback X4 and in buffered mode (which is the only way to get delay trails) it took away top end and hair off my tone

The DIG Delay seems very similar, if not spot on, to the Dual mode on my Timeline. The thing about many delay pedals I've found out it, that they seem to sound better with some amps, not so good with other. The Strymon pedals are some of the only effects that has always sounded great with all the amps I've used them with. Might take a little dialing in, but once your dialed in, the tones are superb. Also I think that their pedals have some of the best "stereo" tones I've every heard.

Strymon stuff is top notch. It's worth the extra coin. I think Eventides H9 stuff is worth spending extra bucks for too. If you are a hands on knob tweaker the DIG is very satisfying.
