And I don't mean a moisture-free dust remover. I'm looking for something more industrial strength that actually will remove elements that will cause connectivity to become lost. Not WD40...

I've checked out a few products from various companies but they all seem to have mixed reviews.

Cool, they're right here in Poway CA (San Diego) I'll check them out tomorrow.

Thanks!

DeoxIT has two products, one is a cleaner, the other you spray afterwards to make a better electrical connection. I use em both!

There's the F5 (Fader lube) too ... that's the best for cleaning pots and then you finish it off with the D5 Deoxit . (The Fader Lube f5 used to be called the Caiglube)

I just complete saved /transformed/fixed or whatever my Orange or120 with this stuff last week.. The pots were completely shot and now they act just like brand new. (Read all the instructions on their stuff though )

There used to be a product called Blue Shower that was the best electronic cleaner I've ever used. I friend of mine who toured always had cans of it handy.

Now I'm using some stuff from CRC called QD electronic cleaner. Works well.

So you would spray the F5 into the pot first, let it dry.. then spray the pot again with the D5?

Pete, I lucked out. My local GC dealer here in SD has all the DeoxIT products. They come in a Hosa package and it cost $8.95 for a 5.0 oz spray can. Not bad...

I'll try it out later tonight when I determine that it's time to wake the neighbors. :D

Be sure after spraying the cleaner you work it around - if you spray a socket, put a tube in and take it out a few times. If you spray a pot, work it full rotation several times. A switch, move it several times in each position.

Hey Dan , I think I have it backwards... The Deoxit first and then the lube. (the lube is now called f5) . The Deoxit (D5) can actually damage pots if it you use too much on certain types.. .

I'm not sure if it really matters how you mix them , the order you use them , etc but I've been told in the past to use the F5 (formerly known as cailube /caiglube (mcl) ) 2nd.

It's worked great for me.
(Caiglabs had a REALLY GOOD and educational site the last I checked) Either way I've used these products since the 80's and if you have scratchy pots and this stuff doesn 't fix them (or faders) then you definitely should be measuring for dc voltage on the pots, as there's a good chance a capacitor has gone bad if this stuff doesn 't fix things. .
