Looking for suggestions for a cheap powered mixer for smaller band gigs. Will be used mostly for vocals running two mains for smaller clubs. If I buy a sub, it'll be powered. Whats everyone using?

I used to have a Mackie 808M, it did the the job. In general not a fan of powered mixers. You can't go too far wrong with Peavey or Mackie though.

How is it volume wise? That's the range...Between $500-$800

If you're playing small clubs and you're not trying to blow up skirts with the volume, you should be good. You can push 1/2 power to the mains & 1/2 power to the monitors. If you order from musiciansfriend you have a 60-day return policy they're offering right now.

Why not use powered speakers? I've never used a powered mixer that had nearly enough "ooommpph".

I've got a Mackie 808M and it's a killer little mixer. It's got built in fx and 1200w a side for about $400 used.

I have a yamaha 512 sc , never let me down has 1000 watts which is plenty and its about $600...

Thanks guys. Would rather do powered speakers, powered sub and a board, but right now $$$ doesn't allow it, so figure powered mixer for now as we have mains already and save up for a bigger system

Second the Yamaha 512. 350 used, really loud and really light. Does nice until you go big.....
