I bought a used Edwards JP Les Paul last year and it is certainly the best value out there. It's 7.85 lbs, has a killer flame top (veneer...who cares) and I paid $800 for it on ebay. The only problem with it were the pickups: seymour duncan '59s. Turns out, they just plain suck   I bought a used suhr aldrich zebra bridge pu off ebay the other day and popped it in last night...(angels sang ahhhhhhhh, harps strumming, gabriel's trumpet etc.). I was concerned about the output since I love my evh '78 and my stock ebmm axis pickups, but this thing is sweet. High output but no noticeable added distortion, although the guitar sounded better with the gain rolled back a tad. Killer bottom end, harmonics fly off the neck, very cool. It sounded so good, I took the pickgaurd off  Way more metal looking. So, if anyone has an aldrich neck pick up they want to get rid of, let me know!

I was all set to try an Alrdich but when I ordered it, it was out of stock. So I bought the EVH Frankenstein (non relic) and put it in my R8. Turned my R8 into exactly what I wanted. Clear articulate and sings. Big  for the EVH

What's the EVH Frankenstein? Is it the Duncan '78 aka EVH?

From what I read. Seymour Duncan makes it exclusively for EVH/Fender. He cant sell them under his own brand name.
It's not the same pickup as the 78'. It's the exact model thats in the 25K Frankenstein just not reliced.
I got for $132, after chewing down Same Day Music. Seymour Duncan forum has the lowdown on the specs.
I'm digging it in the R8.

Interesting...I may have to check one out for my LP. I've got a EVH '78 in my strat right now and I also had one in a previous LP. It's become my favorite bridge pickup of all time!
