Has anyone compared these two pedals for use as a boost and for added mids? How do they compare? I have the Xotic, but the Suhr has me interested.

I don't have the Xotic although it was on my list- have the Koko though and I love it- very tweakable & quiet, great in front of one of my Marshalls.

When I think of a mid-boost I think of the koko boost. Haven't tried the BB though.

I had both and on a Bogner 20th Shiva and Mesa Electra Dyne, I liked the regular BB more, had a lot more gain as well. But the Suhr had a cool lead voicing with the mid engaged. I think it also comes down to how the pedals get along with your amp. I haven't found an amp that the BB didn't work great with.

You mean like this...

:D

I love em both. I like the Koko better with the PT100 and the BB better with the SLO100. If you are going to use it just to kick up the lead channel of something with the gain jacked up already, I like the Koko better. If you want to add a touch of gain at all or push it thru a clean channel... the BB works better. The BB is also a little smoother/darker, the Koko is brighter (but has a really cool 3 position mid voicing switch).

Buy the Koko... thank me later.

I haven't tried the BB (I would love to). I have heard they are awesome. I have the Koko Boost and really like it. I mainly use the clean "Boost" side for lead. The "Mid" boost side is cool but adds a good amount of compression. It is a cool pedal to say the least. Here is a clip where I used the "Mid" boost:

I haven't tried the bb, but I'd like to. I like the koko considerably. I did compare the koko to an OCD...no contest. The OCD went away. I use both boosts. The clean boost to give a little more gain at the input and use the mid boost when i want a bit of aggresion. I tend to use the mid switch to the left. The middle setting is aggresive as hell, but thins out the top end. To the right is closest to a tube screamer, but not as chewy.

If you have 18v available try running the Koko at 18v. Sounds bigger and seems to have more headroom...

I know some pointed it out already Chad but your last straight in clip imo was much better rhythm tone wise, that pedal gets compressed sounding. The only time I am using a level boost these days with the modded marshall is with stupid low output pups like the YMJ clone I have. Leads are cool though.

Danyeo's MK IIc+ clips using a treble booster were some of the best boosted clips I have heard, maybe boosting Boogies just works out better

Cool clip for reference
