Since the Suhr forum is slower than grandma with sore feet..

I have a modern satin and love the guitar, but the Floyd feels kind of 'cheap' should I say in comparison to one of my Gotoh Floyd guitars.

Is this an easy swap? What all would need to be done to make this happen?...if at all possible?

Thanks

There shouldn’t be a Korean Floyd on that guitar. Even if it is, the base plate and saddles are still hardened steel. On a Korean, I would only replace the net acres and bridge clamp screwed. But as I said it should have a German four. How did you confirm it wasnt?

I didn't think it came with a Korean?

They are Korean Floyds on the satin model guitars
not what I’ve seen Can you post a pic? It’s easy to verify. Just look at the saddles

I just looked at jus about every new one for sale on Reverb and they all had German Floyds. Is this some that just started?

What's different about the saddles? Here's a pic of mine

Hard to see clearly but the saddles look squared on the fine tuner side, whereas the the Korean i has a beveled edge. While Suhr said that in a forum 4 years ago, I do not think he continued to use the Korean. Yours looks German

Most Suhr Modern Satins will have Gotoh Floyds. They only started with the Korean Floyds.....they also began with nickel frets on the first production models but quickly changed to SS frets.
Mine has SS frets and wish it had a Gotoh. The Floyd on it feels kinda cheap with the fine tuners and screw in trem arm :(

Look at the photo below. The top is my German and the bottom is the Korean. The arrow show hit the German saddles are squared and the akoren have a clear bevel on the back. I like the Gotoh better, but while you can put a Gotoh on Floyd studs, the stock Gotoh studs are much larger.

Thanks for the pics! Mine actually looks more like the first one

I don’t feel much of a different in feel between the 2 playing but I think the tuning is smoother and the locking screw feel better on the German one

Don’t all OFR still say made in Germany under the baseplate? I’m surprised they use a Korean Floyd on that guitar. I have had many and never had problems with any OFR but have had issues with lesser Floyd’s. I really like the 1984 model.

throw the FU Tone brass block under that bad boy and call it good.

They used the special series Floyd Rose bridges. I never had any issues when I had one.
There are 3 types.

OFR Germany FRT-100 series - Hardened Steel plate, saddles and block
OFR Korea FRT-O1000 series - same specs as German
Special series FRT-S1000 series - Zinc Alloy saddles and block

Suhr never used the special and the special will say special on the base plate. The Korean OFR is not the special
