Suhr pickups... DSH+ for my GMW Strat?

Ok so my main guitar is a GMW San Dimas neck (Maple/Ebony) on an Alder Fender USA body. I have a Suhr Aldrich in the bridge and im finding the guitar a bit on the brighter side.. Id be happier if it sounded a little less bright than it does now.

I was considering trying a DSH+ in the bridge rather than Aldrich, as i heard the DSH+ is a smoother, darker sounding pickup?

Also the guitar has the Callaham Trem block and i wonder if thats causing some of the extra brightness.. Perhaps a Brass block would warm it up a tad?

Haven't tried that Suhr p'up, but the Callaham trems do seem to be a bit bright

Yeah i heard from a couple people that the Callaham block seems to add brightness to the guitar. This guitar is already bright as is, so im thinking a Brass Block would help it some?

I have a DSH+ in my Les Paul. It's a great pup. Very warm and balanced.

I've used DSH+'s in the past.

They sound great, but not as great as the Aldrich, IMO.

I don't feel the Aldrich is THAT bright to begin with.

Actually, the DSH+ sounds pretty similar to the Aldrich, except thicker mids, and a little less harmonic content.

It might be what you're looking for, but don't expect it to be a lot darker.

Have you considered or tried the Dimarzio Breed?

Stock Fender American standard bridge with a Callaham block....

Remember that the fret board is ebony and that may be contributing to the some of the brighter tone....also, the tone knob is your friend

I would think the Brass Block would actually contribute to more brightness, but allow for better sustain. Have u tried Graphite saddles? not my cup of tea, but they do have a warmer/software response to them.

How do the H2+ and H3 sound? Whats the difference between them?

Yeah i get what you mean.. iv been using the tone pot to help out, but im starting to think its either the pickup im using may not be an ideal match for this, OR it could be the block.

I think the Aldrich is very clear, rather than bright. And that extra clarity may be what im hearing rather than brightness. Maybe its the fact the Aldrich seems voiced in the high-mids, and its on the more aggressive side rather than the smoother side of things.

Never tried the breed in my own guitars, but a friend had it in a few Ibanez RG's and i never felt that impressed by it.. hmm

That's her!! I'd leave the bridge, and either try changing values/cap on the tone pot or change to darker pups... Bareknuckles should be relatively inexpensive for you?

You'd think... but funnily enough i can get Anderson or Suhr pickups for a lot less than the Bareknuckles! I think Bareknuckles are around £90-99 each whereas Suhrs are like £65-70 here!

Yeah they're the most pricy pickups in the UK i can think of. Dont get me wrong they sound great! But theyre definitly pricier than other companies..

To be honest, another £30 ontop of the price id normally spend, pushes it a little outta my price range for a pickup.

I went with these saddles on my MIA strat and they helped sustain and I haven't broken a string yet.

I don't really notice that much difference in tone and in brightness....
