i'm gonna get a sustainiac,..i played the jackson dinky with susainiac and loved it,..i havent had a chance to try the fernadez unit out yet,...any opinions?

has anyone put a sustainiac in a guitar before?..was there enough room in the cavity>? i have no intention of taking a router to my sg,...so if it dosent fit i will just shell out the $$$ for the jackson.

anyone with first hand knowledge on these units?

they are cool for low volume use, or for live use, or running SS poweramplifiers/modeling setups.

i used to want a wolfgang with one in the neck a long time ago. i grew out of it though.

you will need to take a drill to any guitar you install a sustainer board in. you have to make room for the control switches.

i messed with sustainers for a while in my early days of playing, but to be brutally honest a decent pack of strings and a little volume working with a tubed amplifier with even the slightest amount of gain will do the same exact thing - and also let you choose your neck pickup you want for a tone preference.

but the 5th's odd harmonic mode is cool for upper register bends because it will even do a harmonic to that.

i do find that some effects processors dont have enough processing power to go that high for a frequency and still operate fine. alot of times things started cutting out. depends on the gear you use though.

i also know that once you install one in a guitar, you've decreased its value, not increased it. just an FYI.

but if that is what you would like to do, then by all means go for it. they have their purposes, but ive never needed one

I've installed several. Big job but no routing on my Les Pauls that I've done.

thanx for your input mark,..i believe the cavity size of the lp and the sg are the same with the exception of the lp being deeper...i think anyways?...what did ya do for the switches?..did you infact drill holes?..i was thinking of using the tone control holes since i dont use the tone controls anyways,....have ya tried the fernadez unit?...how much use do ya get out of it?..any clips??...

Haven't tried the Fernandez. I have had several Sustainiac units and they work flawlessly. I used the pots with switches on them...work great and didn't have to drill holes. I had one less tone control but no big loss I don't use them anyway :)
