Hockey is the best major league team sport though. You can hit a dude with a metal stick across his legs with everything you got and not get thrown out the game. You can take the metal stick and shove him into the boards. You can trip him. You can rough him up. You can board his ass. You can punch another man, bust his teeth, break his nose, break his eye socket and do 15 minutes in the box as a hero instead of years in prison as a criminal. You can pick fights and play dirty. You can't do any of those things in other team sports except maybe football you can tackle dudes like some kinda gay orgy. Those rural northern regions of the USA and parts of Canada would be filled with much more alcoholism and criminality if it weren't for hockey. It's bad enough as it is. Take away hockey and chaos would ensue.Hockey loving asshole cunts. LOL
Football is for sure inherently gay. but it's tough to take a bunch of guys on figure skates seriously eitherHockey is the best major league team sport though. It was much better I think in the 70's. I use to watch it with my dad and some of the fights were epic.Hockey is the best major league team sport though. My wife likes figure skating. Hockey is a sport that is even brutal at the youth level. You can't be a hockey hater since you live in Mass. You have to be one of those rabid dickhead fans with the Bruins shirt. Boston vs Philly, east coast hockey beefs. That'd be a game that's as much fun watching the crowd as it would the game itself, lolFootball is for sure inherently gay. but it's tough to take a bunch of guys on figure skates seriously either

I played growing up. Probably wouldn't do it again but it was something to do until I found guitar. I saw the Blackhawks vs the North Stars at the old met center (where the shitty mall of america is now) in Bloomington MN. Was long enough back that one or two grandfathered in guys weren't wearing helmets. Some great fights. Close game. IIRC the stars edged them out 3-2. Tickets were $9 for mid level seats that had a great view. That was around 87 or 88 maybe. In Tampa/St. Pete someone got Lightning ticket of about the same quality seats around 2009 and the stubs said $100,50 on them. I can't afford to be a fan of pro sports but I did watch some recaps of the recent Usyk-Fury boxing match. I prefer boxing these days if I watch anything, but I ain't paying for any of it.I have a lot of friends that are into hockey but I never really caught the bug. I was a whalers time at one point though because Hartford is much closer to me than Boston.
I went through a blackhawks phase for a while in the mid 90s.
The 27 in my name is from Jeremy Roenick
They ruined hockey when they made fighting a 5 minute major. It was much better I think in the 70's. I use to watch it with my dad and some of the fights were epic.

I think the ruining began when they mandated helmets. It's like smoking light cigarettes. If you are gonna smoke you might as well smoke the full flavors. I think it was Gordie Howe or someone who said you don't need teeth to play hockey, lol, great quote. And that's the mindset of a lot of those guys. Grow up in Warroad MN and tell me what else there is to do but play hockey, drink, and fight. With hockey you kill two of those birds with one stone during the game. There will always be a need for enforcers. It's too brutal of a sport with too many cheap shots not to have them. They ruined hockey when they made fighting a 5 minute major.

Curved bladed sticks also changed the game quite a bit. Wasn't nearly as much hazard for the goalie and players, most of the shots were low or on ice until the curved blades came along. They limited the curve because a heavy curve makes the puck act like a knuckleball; does all kinda weird. Personally, and this is just me having played hockey/football I wouldn't put my kid in contact sports I don't think, unless my kid was a real mean bastard. My son played a little baseball but it's pretty much being shown even playing youth league heavy contact stuff=CTE brain damage. Probably why I'm such a dumbass now. Plus I have cast about a 100k bullets, lolI agree. It started with the helmets.
