I'm getting some solid sounds and a cool module but the JMP is not blowing me away like the SLO II. Maybe i'm expecting too much from it?

Great for low and mid gain. I just think I need something that covers a wider swath. I like it but just isn't completely what I imagined. Thinking of snagging a Killer Kali instead but we'll see. Don't get me wrong, sounds like a Marshall and is solid. Just don't think it covers what I need.

I'm not making the same mistake I made on my first Synergy-go-round.

I treat the modules the same as any head. Lower the gain, and hit with OD pedals.

I know what you mean.. I like mine enough to keep it and when I play into a captor and with IR's BUT when I have it going through a cab, it lacks what my real heads have. I find it limiting beyond the mid gain thing. Probably pretty great for the cleans and edge of breakup thing though. But I am not " in love" with mine by any means.

As for the Synergy Plexi, I found it beefy but too mid forward and not cutting enough. Those usual polished Friedman mids which he can't seem not to bake into his designs. I think he has come around on that recently but for a while there, it's the Friedman mids that kept me from loving the first Gen Plexi and the BB/BE.

Does it not have enough gain?
As a reference, think early Ratt, early Judas Priest, etc. as high gain for this module. I don't want to confuse anyone because it is a Plexi and i'm sure this is what Plexi is. I like the tones and nothing I didn’t like about it other than realizing I'm probably an 800 tone person more than Plexi.

I probably have been spoiled with the SLO II. People talk about the bass on the JMP and I did'nt hear a ton of low end. I'm going into two 2x12s though. For great rock stuff, I'd swear by this thing. For me, I'd like more gain.

I want to be able to do AC/DC, Green Day, and full on metal. I know that is a lot to ask of one module. I'm sure future modules will cover thr 800 and 900 range.

See I'd like to try the Friedman onr down the road. The BE-DLX. I got a Kali coming and will let you guys know, lol. Like I said, the JMP was great but for me and my needs, need to try something else.

I seemed to spend more time tweaking than playing when I had the Kali

From everything I've heard in demos and whatnot, the SLO II and Kali got my attention more than any.

I thought they were releasing a true 800? That would be good with the gain mod and switches like their modded head.

Yeah, I figured early 80s was about as far as it can go i am waiting or a modded 800 or DSL/JVM module.

KK can probably do that range. Just not all at once.

KK has more gain than the Be-Dlx, but I think the Be-Dlx boosts better for more modern Marshall smoother tones. I like the KK better alone.

Yeah I think it is coming and that will be on my radar for sure.

Those two modules and the Bogner seemed to be the most versatile and nice and heavy.

What power amp are you running?
EL34's through my RM100 ( lynch box ) into one side of a stereo 1960 A with V30/G12T75 in the room. My GB cab is in a cab closet with mics on it so have been playing through a 1960 which sounds really good with my jcm800 heads so I can't understand it.

I felt the same way about the JMP module.I ended up trading it for the Uberschall module and already had the KK and orginal SLO ( which I love) and can cover just about any ground I need.

The killer kali is great. The ultralead is a fun one too.
