I know a few topics have come up about the T&N effort, the tone on some of the remixes is even more woody sounding than the originals. Who all is enjoying the new T&N songs as well?

I think it sounds like he's playing through a gorilla :( songs didnt need redone IMHO. Sadly I know thats how bands make money these days by re-recording.

Robert Mason on "It's not Love" is damn rockin!

Robert Mason on the whole older Mob record, rocked. Not a big Oni fan

I do like the T+N record, though.

Other than the noodle bits....guitar sound alot thicker than the original?

Through a gorilla eh? Not sure I can agree with that, I can understand somebody liking the original tone better, which I do. But to say it sounds like a gorilla is a bit extreme. I think he is using a Friedman on the recording, oh but who knows it may be a kemper profiling a Friedman

I like their new stuff, think it sounds much better than some of Lynch's previous efforts. Just my take on it, and as far as the remixes, my money was spent for the new stuff, the remix was an added bonus for me personally.

I have no idea what he used on this new version. I listened to this and then listened to the old version and I like his tone better on the old one. There is this smoothness to the distortion on the original. On the new one, the distortion is very "toothy" or gritty or sandy sounding. I had one of those RG100 Randalls that he supposedly used on the original version in my store not that long ago. The thing sat forever. This guy came in asked what I wanted for it and I told him $199. He borrowed my Charvel and grabbed a Tube Screamer out of the case and went over to test the thing out. He knew that amp like the back of his hand and no joke, within 2 minutes I walked over there and was thinking, "no way am I selling that amp". It sounded so freaking good. The guy ripped too so that helps. When he said, "i'll take it" I was bummed. I always ignored those maps after not being able to get a great sound out of one I owned in like 1985. I obviously didn't know how to use it.

Lynch actually used two Friedman Naked's and his old Marshall...modified DSL, plus various pedals. (See video)

I think his tone overall sounds a lot better here than it has in a long time. Some remakes I like, some not so much. I thought his fresh take on the actual Tooth and Nail song was particularly cool.

+ a fender, Brahma preamp, lynchbox II, and a skull crusher......

The point is, he uses just about everything these days and because he combines 5 amps into his overall studio track, what you get is a wall of sound that lacks the cut of old. I love the lynch mob stuff but already there you could start to hear the tone get thick and lose some of the bite. Too many amps filling out the spectrum. His lead tone now also doesn't stand out at all. Now it also sounds fizzier! Not good either.

+1. He's already covered his own stuff on the Lynch Mob REvolution disc and now again a third time? He should do it a fourth time and get Don Dokken to sing on the record.  Maybe they could cover old Lynch Mob tunes, then he'd have like every permutation covered. LOL.

I like his new stuff...the new T&N and Kill All Control sound pretty good, tone-wise. Who knows what he's using these days...besides, his secret mojo comes from the Fostex 4 track under a moving blanket.
