I already own a Ceriatone King Kong and '80 JMP2203. Am I really missing anything? I know the eq on the Jube is more responsive than any other Marshall made but I feel like the amps I have can cover it. Am I wrong?

Just an 800 with clipping.
Marshall was blowing them out $900 from the factory 6 yrs ago now they want crazy money so do the owners selling used / pass.

They are so cheap when they come up used in the classifieds, you should absolutely try one. We had an amp fest a few years back and we just got stuck playing the silver jubilee for thirty minutes and couldn't believe how great it sounded. It was crushed when we started playing some of the big dogs next to it, but it is a very fun amp to play.

It’ll be darker, smoother, with lower mids, less kerrang, and much more available low end than your JMP.
Cool amps but it’ll sound blanketed next to your JMP.

Have literally nothing to add cause this is spot on. Not that they aren’t fun. But a 2203 next to it will quickly take some of that initial excitement away unfortunately. 2203’s are annoying bastards ruining all the fun

Not at all just a JCM800 with clipping. Very little of it is the same. Jubilee has a plate drive tone stack as apposed to cathode follower, tone section is different with different values. and a number of other changes. So it really is it's own thing. Some like it, some don't.
doesn't it use LED's as clipping diodes like some the 900's too ?? at least from what I remember

IME, the clipping circuit isn't the magic about it at all. I think you leave off the clipping and hit it with a boost, and that is where it really shines.

Yes, If i remember right, I think there's 3 stages of diode clipping and one stage is the red LED's. When the amp is clean, that's the only time there aren't diodes engaged.

I know there is some pull rhythm thing that i just don't pull. knob pulled is what I have heard a lot of people talk about being the magic. If there is other diode clipping and LED in the circuit, the rest of it sounds good. But I don't care about the pull knob

Okay i ment its an 800 w/o a "presence" nobb or diodes LOL.

I have an original 1987 50 watt. Fantastic amp. For medium gain rock tones, it’s killer. Set it and forget it, no need for pedals.

Yeah. I had an original combo amp that we put through my evh 4x12. Listening to Rush played through it was heavenly. It is a killer amp. The fact that other amps can bury it really shouldn't dissuade people from it. Very unique.

Oh was that the amp fest at Matt's house? I think I remember reading you jammed with him. If that's the case then yeah I can see it getting demolished next to a Wizard and such LOL Some stiff competition in that room

Yeah. The thing about memory is that what you are playing right then can seem powerful. And with that amp, we were all sure it was the best amp on the planet. But then we played our amps, and yeah. It was left behind in the past. But it really was a lot of fun to play. And ever since then, I have flirted hard with grabbing one.

That's why I always like taking my amp down there. Because if I love something down there, I can shoot my amp against it to see if it can be beaten for me. Amp fests are very dangerous. You get drunk and may buy someone else's amp
