If you're buying gear in an attempt to be unique, you've already failed. Might as well just go ahead and apply for a job as the door girl at GC at that point.

Our door girl is the only reason I go to Guitar Center.

Just curious as to what original type of music Gary plays through, what gear that nobody else has he plays through, and what type of guitars that he plays that nobody else plays through. You know, how's he unique in his choice of amp, guitar and playing style?

I wish I was as unique as I try to be.....but all we can do is try I guess....right? That said, I stand by the quote. Of course I don't have gear "no one else has", which is why I never said I did. I just stay out of gear trends that have an obvious pull of so many guys at the same time.

Not buying the same new piece of gear everyone has, following the same music trend or fashion sense as everyone is following has always been my way of doing things. It's made me such a great artist, I ended up in retail management! (whoops!)

PS> The temptation to quote my own second quote (about self-quotes always getting a rise out of people) was overwhelming!

I would have applauded it, personally. Next time, go for it...

Im with ya Gary, Im not a trend person at all, I just play what I like and more importantly what works for me. After hearing the AxeFx, I found that it fits me and my needs to a T. I cant see ever needing anything beyond it, it literally does everything that I want and need it to do and alot more...

Hell yea Kage......and I've heard your results. (F'n A!)

I'm only responding to the initial poster requesting to be talked out of buying one.

PS> Dude.....like I said on your other page.....your clips kill me sometimes!

Thanks Gary, the feeling is mutual. I love your rawness.. BTW, none of my clips are AxeFx, havent gotten around to that yet, Im recording challenged...

I understand where youre coming from and Im not judging you. As Steve 5150 said in another thread, its all about being able to convey the music and in that respect, whatever works just works IMHO. Id love to know your opinion of the AxeFx if you ever get to spend some quality time, it real is a revolutionary piece of gear IMO and so far, the clips have not done it the justice that getting in deep and playing it does...

I'm sorry Gary, but this comment just doesn't apply to most gear and this box FOR SURE. Listen to Warren Haynes or Clapton or EVH play through a Soldano SLO. They all used the amp at one time or another and they all sound completely different. What is going to make you unique is what YOU do with any piece of equipment with your mind and fingers. In the case of the Axe-FX though, this comment is particularly inapplicable because it has so many different amps sims, so many different effects all with so many different routing and parameter tweaking options that you can create just about any "gear" you have in your head. What tool could allow for more uniqueness and originality than that?

You're right. I've had just about enough of me lately too...

Someday I'd love to talk about all this stuff with you guys over a drink with some gear to play through nearby.

Somehow.....pretentious self-quotes and defensive replies are more fun that way. Oh well, until then......commence!

I dont think that Steve, me or anyone else is being defensive and as I said earlier, Im not judging you, we've all seen gear trends and the next big thing come and go but the AxeFx is indeed the real deal. I wish that you lived closer so that you could experience it for yourself because it changed my thinking and caused me to sell my entire rig. Once you get a glimpse of the potential and what you can do, its a pretty enlightening thing IMO...

I don't think I've ever seen a defensive reply from you Kage (not even when your life was being threatened by whats-his-name a couple months back!)

One would have to be afraid or care what comes out of the mouth of a lying loser like that to be defensive...
