Taming the Metal Grill on a 4x12 Cab

So, I'm messing with my buddy's Framus Cobra cab. The metal grill on the front sings like a motherfucker, because the design Framus used it literally retarded. It has plastic tubes that space the grill out, so it's metal to plastic to wood. If you just knock on the side of the cab, you hear it ring out bad.

So, I got some rubber grommets and they fit perfectly in the mounting holes on the grill. The ID of the grommets is a perfect fit for the plastic pole pieces. It killed most of the sustain, but the ring is still there when you knock on it.

I originally planned on painting the inside face of the grill with sound-deadening Rubberized Undercoating. I know it's going to be tricky to do, but I'm sure I can get it to where you can't see it from the outside. I'm starting to wonder it it's really worth it.

Should I live with the grommets and be happy with the sustain kill, or try to finish off with ringing? The owner and I want your opinon.

Plasti dip will solve that problem. Deadens the sound completely I did that on my old Krank which rang like a bell with lower tunings.

Remove grill, spray with plasti dip, put it back on $7 at Home Depot in a variety of colors
