I'm considering a Maxxwatt

When getting the price, they told me:
please inquire at your end. The buyer is responsible for the import taxes when the product arrives.

How does that work? Who do I inquire? Or is this a wink wink no taxes needed but they can't really come out and say that

Not sure if I am going to plunge or not....love the tones but the price is a bit steep. Decisions decisions

Thanks for the reply and link mad
But looking at the website of legal mumbo jumbo is kind of killing my gas lol

Pretty sure that's why you need to buy from a distributor here in the states. They will handle all the importing fees and such. If you buy a Marshall, all of that stuff is handled by the importer long before you see it in the store.

Sorry if i am missing the mark.

It's hit or miss. I bought a matrix amp shipped from England and never got charged anything. Then I've read people getting hit with a bill months later when they buy things from overseas. Could be the $ value that triggers it I guess.

Regardless of import taxes, you'd technically be required to pay state sales/use tax to Arizona - but there's no real enforcement mechanism for that.

Are they actually shipping the Super Hi 50s now?

Here is literally the only free calculator I could find.

Finding the actual goods code and country code seemed ridiculous but this I think does the work for you. I cannot say this is going to be accurate but it looks like it will depend on where they are located. If they are not in the Fiscal Territory you are going to pay 24% VAT, if they are you pay nothing. According to this calculator anyway.

Hiwatt could also declare a lower value either way but who knows if they would put themselves in that position for a sale.

Edit: This is just my opinion of course and since I have never physically played one it is kind of baseless but that amp is already way too expensive. What is it $3,500? Then IF you have to pay 20% or more tax you are looking at over $4k.

I would personally rather buy a Cameron on reverb for that kind of dough or Get one of the TAPP Marzian amps that sound amazing (to me) and are under $2,500 which is supposedly the magic number for import fees. Keep in mind I have never imported anything, just looking online for info.

They said build time is 3-4 weeks

Uggghh....I was on the fence but now probably pass due to the potential tax burden

I guess this is the better answer. They do have a USA site and a Maxwatt USA member on TGP. Worth contacting them if you really want the amp.

I had mad GAS for one, but it kind of died out. lol It's a lot of $ for what you are getting. Of course then I went ahead and bought another Wizard instead.

No import tax. You pay state sales tax. UPS and FedEx do the paperwork when it goes through customs (they act as your broker). Depending on your state, you either self report or they send you a letter informing you of how much you owe. It will come from the franchise tax board. I've bought a few things from shops in Europe. When it goes through US customs, you will either get an email or a phone call from your shipping company (UPS, FedEx, etc.). They will ask for your tax ID number or social. Then the amp will arrive. Then a few months later you'll get a letter from state tax board saying something like hey bought some shit. You owe us money. It's just state sales tax. No federal taxes or duties or anything.

This. Screw $3500. Find a used Fortin and call it a day.

I have a feeling the Custom Hi is an Aldrich clone. Have someone build you one here in the USA. The Meshuggah is a HG Jose.
