I know it's been going on some time and this isnt really meant as a complaint by any means. That said, I have noticed that in the past, there would be a piece of gear I wasnt fully bought in on but really wanted to try. I'd buy a used one and if it worked I'd keep it, if not I'd list it and move it on. Sometimes I'd lose a bit of mulah but most of the time I broke even or relatively even...

Recently i've past on nearly a dozen items that are priced at hefty discounts and well under what they are listed for anywhere else. I'll add it to my cart and go to checkout, only to cancel after see the taxes... anyone else find this curbing their hunger?

I'm right there with you. It disturbs me to have pay taxes on something used.

Absolutely! Taxes have saved me from a ton of impulse buys recently.

Taxes on stuff blow, fees on stuff blow. If I see something on Reverb I really want, I'll try looking on a couple different forums or facebook groups to see if it's posted on there, save some money on tax. Personally I list stuff cheaper on forums/fb than on Reverb. I have a guitar up for $2700 on Reverb. Even at 5% tax it'll add $138 (in my state it would be $178). Reverb's also gonna take $162.25 in fees from me. I'd hate to buy a $2700+ used guitar and still pay THAT much in taxes on it. I have it listed on forums and fb groups for $2500, no fees no taxes.

I don’t mind paying the fees. They deserve to be compensated for their service. Paying taxes on used items sucks balls. I’m surprised we got away with not paying them for as long as we did though.

Calm down kids.
Here in Brazil the taxes are 110% over foreign products...

Hate it and it’s ridiculous to be charged sales tax on used items from individuals.

And yes, it has stopped me from buying much at all lately.

Agreed. It stinks!

I bought a 2nd-hand geetar from Denmark last year (private sale) and it cost a grand just to get it out to me. WTF?

So did I.

Where are you buying stuff Reverb? It's ridiculous to have to pay taxes on used gear. I'm in Ga and there is no tax on used stuff. I'm sure its coming at some point

Na, it was the freight, import duties and local GST, mate. Private sale with friend, so no Reverb, eBay or whatever.

It added 50% to the value of the transaction all-up.

I'd love to voice my opinion on the monumental, anti-American SCOTUS ruling on this shitty Internet tax but politics isn't allowed on Rig-Talk. Nevertheless, I will say that I am extremely disappointed with specific justices who ruled on that case.
