TC Electronic - PolyTune

I think it's a great idea, but how would it work for the guy (like me) who uses many lower, alternate, open tunings? I see it has a chromatic mode which is enough to make me buy it, but the Poly mode is really interesting.

I'm in the market for another tuner for my board, and it's between this and the Korg Pitchblack.

+1 I looked at this and it seems awesome for speed but the accuracy still isn't there in the poly mode and it doesn't compete really with my turbo tuner, still the best choice right now.

1.0 cent accuracy in Poly mode and 0.5 cent accuracy in Mono mode not good enough?

Yeah, that's a pretty impressive piece of gear - I'm amazed at where technology is going.

Probably useless for Buzz Feiten users with Suhr's and Anderson's. I'm fine with the Boss TU-12. And the arrow is always more accurate than the lights.

No, as I use my tuner for intonating my guitars also. I prefer strobe as well.

The mono mode is not strobe either its a standard needle mode.

for comparison the strobostomp 2 is 0.1 (1/10) cent accurate and the Turbo tuner is 0.02 (2/100) cent accurate.

I also use some custom tuning offsets that are saved in my turbo tuner.

for what its worth the following players I saw play at NAMM were using the TC Poly Tuner:

1. Guthrie Govan
2. Doug Aldrich
3. Brad Gillis
4. Yngwie Malmsteen
5. Slash
6. Scott Ian
7. Paul Reed Smith

Must be something to it.

Well it's cool, seeing whats out of tune all at once!

But you know as well as I do they were given those tuners free to demo at the show and then take home. IMO their using them at the trade show doesn't really say much, lets see whose pedal boards it stays on this coming year.

My bet is this will sell well to many players using pitch black and tu-2 types, but wont sell as well to the strobe crowd.

Personally no matter how cool it is function wise if it can't serve ALL of my tuning needs its a deal breaker for me.

Well, I guess if I really needed that tight of a level of accuracy I'd use one of those more accurate units for my setup, and definitely use the PolyTune for live use.
