TC Electronics Nova Repeater FX Loop issue

so my newly acquired Nova Repeater is causing a bass and volume loss when I put it in the loop.
any ideas what could be causing this? or how to fix it?
I've tried both inputs (lo and hi) and that doesn't seem to change the issue at all.
 
I briefly had a Nova Delay and it sucked a lot of tone in the loop. I sent it back...
 
On my Nova repeater, switching inputs fixed the issue for me. Currently running it in the loop of my Marshall 2553 or Mesa mark IVA. Have you tried it out front to see if it sucks tone there?

there is always the true bypass looper option, unless you can't live with the sound when the pedal is on too.
 
just did some more testing.

no matter the combination of pedals, no pedals, 6 inch patch cables, long run cables - if the nova repeater is in the loop i am getting a noticeable volume and bass drop.

However running it in front of my amp does not seem to yield the same effect.

I'm fucking stumped.
