can you use an editing program like real major for the g-major I to edit the presets and settings with a computer for the g-force?

does something like this exist?

not a fan of the g-system - its gotta be racked. and i have held off on a GM-II because of the lag issues live, i sold my GM-I because of this issue. downside is having to set all of the loop levels, line levels, boost levels, input levels, and output levels by hand in the tiny screen.

anything anyone knows about this i'd love to hear.

thanks

The G System can be racked and the editor works great on my computer. Hell of a unit!!

i just did some research on this, the g-system can become seperated from the pedal housing and racked and ran MIDI - and then you use the software to edit the parameters?

does it have a screen for on the fly adjustments or do you have to hook it up as a pedal again to get that ability or forced to use a computer only for editing parameters

i really dont need all of the loops and other BS that the g-system offers, the only reason im going to a g-force is because of the lag problems of the g major series, and i want an easier way to setup the level controls - be it hints inside the g-force or an editing program :dunno:

I have my G system racked and its a breeze to edit patches and parameters. The brain does not need to be attached to the board to do any kind of editing and all you need is a simple usb cable connected to the Brain to use the vyzor editing software. the cool thing about the software is that changes are made in real time so you can actually hear what things sound like as you adjust them. its all actually pretty simple and user friendly once you get past the set up phase.

edit: also the foot controller connects to the brain via a cat5 ethernet cable, and you dont need to use the software for all parameter changes. I set up my entire set list of patches directly from the screen on the foot controller and it was a breeze.

wow. thats 20x better than a g-force screen.

im sold - that is nothing but cool.

thanks for the detailed reply - that is nothing short of awsome. to be able to do that to program it, and then use your MIDI setup to function normally in the rest of your rig seperately saves alot of time and that is stupid easy to impliment at home.

damn, im shocked at the versatility

No problem man. I literally went into our studio without any previous experience with the G system and was able to set up everything just right and i only had to refer to the manual maybe twice. Im easily discouraged when it comes to programming stuff which is why i've never gotten too into crazy midi gear but this was just a walk in the park once you understand which buttons take you to which screens. Definitely check out the TC forums and go to the G-system section, there's a lot of very informative people there that have helped me out a lot. Just make sure you dont give up on the unit, which very many people tend to do. Be patient with it and you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Also some consider the effects to be on par with the G force if not better in some cases.

There's no software for the GForce sadly, I wish there was. However, more importantly, the GForce walks all over the GM and GS soundwise. And yes, before you ask, I have A/B-ed them   Long time GForce user and it is going NOWHERE.

Sorry for not replying sooner, just got back from a 2 day work trip.

But basicly yeah, the vyzor editor makes it a breeze to work on your patches and to setup the G. Like the others said, i don`t know how i lived without it before. It`s the brain of my whole setup, it controls everything. Switching is instantaneous, no lag. One other fun thing is you can assign any switch(Well except 3) to do CC changes for other units, via midi. I can assign and control every function on my Meathead, or combined with an RG-16 or amp gizmo, you can do the same with any other amp. Awesome!!!!!

The possibilities are almost endless with it!!!!!!!!!

Get one.

i did some research on the tc electronics forum and others have said theres minimal differences, if anything actually the g-system sounded somewhat better.

care to explain the few detailed differences you heard? coming from a g-major i really favor the g-force here because i know that the GM-II uses the same processor as the G-force - so right from the get-go the tone that i am used to with the algorithms is personally biased to the g-force.

but in user-related operation the g-system woops all kinds of ass on friendly interfacing

bump

anyone else that cares to share information here on either product?

i have also heard that the g-system can sound too digital from others that have owned one. those who own one, what is your opinion on this? the g-force has never gotten this accusation that i have read, heard, or seen?

I've been through a couple of G Systems and I just can't get past certain aspects..such as overdrive pedals for boosting(overloads pedal loop), slight signal degradation with certain amps. The G Major II and a Suhr minimix 2 works amazingly well. You do lose some of the effects because of the parallel nature but it really works amazing for the time based effects. This and a gcx rig with my favorite pedals does the trick.

Well, I have been using the GF for several years, so maybe my ears are used to hearing it but the GSystem never sounded right to me, for lack of better word. When I setup similar presets on both, the GForce fits right in with my sound while the GSys seems to clash with it. I tweaked the GSys but never got it to how I wanted it to sound. I wasn't using the pre-gain section. The loops/pre-gain section really wreaked havoc on my tone, which got better by using a buffer etc but yet again, not how I wanted it.

Here is Pete Thorn demoing it from TC's site. This gives a really good demo of the quality of the effects, if nothing else. Keep in mind, this is just a super brief shot of what is available inside this unit. It might be limited in some ways compared to some other units, but the sound quality is what sells it. It can also be bought new for around $399. That is what I paid new from an authorized dealer. Many people pay that much for a delay.

eh....I popped this into the wrong thread...  well enjoy anyway
