Hey dudes,

Im pretty pleased with my rack (Mesa Quad etc...) but kind of wouldnt mind something cheap to throw into the mix to get a few more tones.

Im thinking of splashing out on a tech 21 TriAc or Gt2. Are these any good and would they sound decent through my Mesa Power amp?

Any other cheaper, pedal based ideas?

The triAC is supposedly similar to the old tri-od. I`ve used it for a long time, and I`ve always liked it. I would guess into the Mesa power amå, it will sound nice. Some don`t like the inbetween-sounds from Tech21, but I make them work for my ears.

hmm, you had that PSa thingy didnt you for a while? how do you think that would work, switching in and out with the Quad?

I used a GT2 into a power amp/cab for years - I still use the GT2 for a Electronica/Rock project I do when I got direct to the pa. If you listen to Shredfest on my myspace, that is a GT2 into a Tech 21 Power Engine - however I got great (probably better) results from the GT2 into a regular tube power amp/cab also.

Hey! I was always REALLY happy with the bass stuff I've owned from Tech 21. I had a Bass Driver DI and an RBI rack unit. Both sounded INCREDIBLE. I also had the GT2, but only for a short while. It had tons of distortion and was pretty aggressive sounding, if my memory serves me right. They make great stuff in my opinion.
Hi Chris!

Cool, thing is, with my quad setup, I can dial in pretty much any tone I really need but I'd just like a couple more footswitchable options.

I stupidly sold a PSA-1. I really dug it, but I needed a head/cab set up at that point...

Hey, Mike. Yeah, I still have the PSA, I think it`s a marvellous piece of gear. Both for bass and guitar. It does the brootalz to a "T", and I could easily use it with a Mesa power amp for just about any band I like myself.
