Tech 21 Marty Friedman Signature SansAmp with Marty Himself

I did not like "Preset 2" at all. That sounded like cranking the bass on an amp and trying to run 100 watts into a 2 watt speaker.

I think it is cool that they worked with him on this and im sure there are great tones in there.

I’ve been a Marty fan since that first Cacophony album. He’s a fantastic player.
The auto wah/filter trick is interesting.
I still think his clean tone on the “Scenes” album is second only to Eric Johnson’s clean tone from the ACL’88 show.

is he gonna be a "I'll shill anything for the right price" like Mustaine?

remember this Mustaine gem?

I still play Savage almost daily . Keeps my chops up . And ex ray eyes solos are underrated

Idk how anything Marty is underrated, guy is a legend. Well known as an ass kicker.
I respect him because he was in a legendary metal band, but pivoted in a totally other country and became a totally new guitar hero.

I’m with ya man. When I think of MF clean I think of that plinky but beautiful scenes tone. introduction and his earlier stuff too

Sounds like shit...doesn't sound like the Friedman " clean" or " lead" really. But I hear the auto filter thing in his playing much more now. But it takes his phrasing and bends to really make that sound.

I thought the rhythm setting was pretty spot on to his music for speeding/loudspeaker type tones.

whelp, say what you want about modelers, but my Ampero Stage sounds way better than that

Not that I'm pumping the Ampero, it's one of the cheapest modelers out there & has it's limitations - I just didn't want to put too much skin in the game on a modeler before trying it out. It works for midi switching and effects, and once in a while, I'll use the modeler tones without my preamp.

I like hearing Marty play in live situations because a lot of his later albums has too many layers and things sound smeared. 1 take often says more because the pick attack and nuances are more defined.

This pedal sounds overly compressed but I think it would be a useful tool to have around to get some unique tones quick
