I pretty much know how it all works for the most part and all the differnces between tube and solid state amps when it come to speaker loads, but this is a bit if a differnt situation I have never been in before.
I have a Line 6 Sider IV 2x12 stero combo w/ two 8ohm speaker outs. Each speaker out is for a seperate side of the stereo power amp section requiring 8 an ohm load.
I want to plug the amp portion of the combo in to my bogner OS 2x12 and bypass/not use the combo's internal speakers.
The Bogner cab is obviously a 8ohm mono cab and when you plug a speaker cable into only one of the jacks on the combo it turns off only one of the speakers on the combo so you need to have a cable plugged into both speaker jacks in order to bypass both speakers on the combo.
I could just disconnect the other speaker in the combo but I dont want to do that and use the amp without anything connected to one stero side of it as I have read this is not reccomended by line 6 on thier forum. They say you always need two speakers connected, one for each speker jack on these amps.
This would be a piece of cake if the bogner cab was a stero cab, but it is not.
Would using a "Y" cable plugged into both speaker outs of the line 6 combo and then into the single input of the Bogner cab be totaly "Trailer Park" here???
Doing this would turn off both speakers on the combo and get the signal into the bogner 2x12, and I dont care about the signal not being stereo anymore either.
I'm wondering if the load still end up being 8 ohms for each speaker out on the amp doing this with a "Y" cable...?
This is some what of a hack and all but it would get the job done pretty easily here..
Thoughts suggustions, etc...???
Thanks...
