Yes discuss!

I'm about to order some for my 2x12!

40 oz mag ...

Oh yeah,

I understand the are greenback flavored, less flub when pushed....

Webers are great speakers for the old school greenback vibe.

Never went that big on magnets, so can't speak for them. But they did all of the earlier Scumbacks, so sure they got it figured out.

LOVE the 30oz Legacies! All my cabs have them. I had a Scumback H75 and J75....neither of which did much for me. I'm sure I would have loved the Scumback M's as well......if they are actually close to the same thing as the Legacies.

If you are looking for a killer 50oz "H" style speaker, you should look into the Mojo BV-30H. I much preferred it to the Scumback H75.....smoother and thicker while being more articulate at the same time.

BTW, the Legacy series are on sale for $99 right now at Weber.

Just make sure you do not put a credit card on file with them. They like to be paid twice.

Huh?

Not this again! :aww:

Weber builds kickass speakers, and i have absolutely no worries at all about giving them my credit card.

$99 for an American made greenback killer! What more could you ask for?

Agreed. I've been buying Webers for a long time and they are A+ in my book.

Seems like everyone is taking sides on the whole fiasco and I see a lot of butthurt from the Scumback users around the boards. I don't claim to know all the details, but I heard enough (being a small business owner myself) to say that I have no problems with Weber's decision.

I also think it's funny that the Scumback "camp" is talking on the boards about how inferior the Legacy speakers are......then you have guys with no dog in the hunt which are A/Bing the speakers and saying they sound exactly the same.

Funny how things change!

I just got a 30 oz, 65 watter. Nice speaker.. maybe a tad dark for my tastes but has that vintage crunch and the highs are nice and under control. I think I'll end up grabbing a hellatone or a lynchback to pair with this guy as to bring out the highs a bit more. Kind of like what Pete Thorn did when he combined clips of his M75 and Lynchback. That sounded incredible to my ears.

As for the on now for 99$... well, for Canadians anyway, factor in that he charges 50$ for shipping for one speaker and then despite saying they ship USPS to Canada, receiving the speaker through Fedex and shelling out another 26$, my weber now cost me 176$. Not so much of a deal there.. might as well have gone Scumback! That said, that would have prob cost me another 50$ to get here. Raped again..

Just ask Jim!
Pardon my ignorance but is there some kind of weird relationship betwixt Scumback and Weber? I can't seem to read anything about one speaker/maker without reading about the other.

Not stirring the pot, just can't figure it out.

thanks for the input, what amp did you run it in that gave you that "Dark feeling"? and! can you compare it to V30's? (Relative to the dark comment, I've got 2x2x12's, gonna run V30's in the closed bottom, these in the open top... The open top's just beamy, and middy at home... thought I'd tame it with these....)

Yes, I would be interested in hearing your thoughts of the Legacy as compared to a Celestion V30 (if you have experience).

Ouch. I was thinking of ordering two Legacy's today:
1.) a 100 watter with a 50 oz magnet, 75 hz cone and Standard British dust cap; and
2.) a 100 watter with a 50 oz magnet, 55 hz cone and a large H dust cap

I figured the 55 hz cone would smooth out any spikeyness coming off of the 75 hz cone, as well as add some beefiness to my overall sound. However, based on your post, I'm thinking this is unnecessary and maybe speaker 2 should be as described above but with a 75 hz cone?.....

Regardless, $99 turning into $176 is deterring me now..... :gethim:

First off, you guys are in the states so I'd imagine you'll probably only be around the 30$ shipping when all is said and done and no custom fees.. look into that.

Actually, the brightest amp I have, an 82 JCM800 combo with it's bright cap and 6550's. At that, I wouldn't even say dark, more of a well broken in feeling with no hard edges and spike. Essentially, I would say it is nice and smooth. Smooth however, doesn't always give you the bite you want. I don't have a V30 to compare it with but I do have eminence SuperV's which were Lynch's take on the best qualities of a Fane and V30 and those just crunch right up and have tons of detail. Great speaker. This is what has left me to conclude that these are really good speakers but for ultimate versatility, you might want to mix them with something that has a bit more bite. I thought of V30's right away as I like how they record. Used to have some WGS 30's that i put in with some greenbacks but found them too thin. That is as far as my experience goes with those. I'd think two of these webers in with some V30's would help smooth out the top end for sure. I def don't want to deter anyone from getting these, just be forewarned that you may find them a little smooth for your tastes. This was also a common observation about m75's from scumback though. I'm all about crunch but when you like that type of tone, you need something to ward off the spikey highs. I think these do a good job. The breakup is really nice on these though
