Tell me about Motor City Pickups.

Will be installing in a 2003 Les Paul Studio tuned to drop Bb. Looking for aggressive pissed high gain. Tight and chunky but not muddy. Crisp and clear but not too ice picky bright. Want it to slam you in the chest when palm muting low notes and also be fluid enough for fast extreme metal riffing. Looking for a tone like if Fear Factory/SYL/Deftones didn't use EMG 81/Blackouts active pickups. Not so compressed. Like if those band's tones matured a little bit but still had all the aggressiveness, punch, and crush. Trying to play more low tuned drony wall of sound stuff like Isis, Neurosis, Cult Of Luna type stuff but instead of the sludgy muddy type tones like those bands have more like what I mentioned above. Afwayu, Solution, Angel Dust, others? Thanks.

I have 2 guitars loaded with MCP's and between the Afwayu set and Detroiter set, I prefer the Detroiter's for drop tunings. YMMV

Angel Dust is it for me, but he has stopped making them. Second choice would be the Detroiter!! I have a 2nd Degree BB bridge in my Heritage 150CM and it is a bit more open/organic than the Detroiter. Cannot go wrong with the Detroiter though.

For the extreme stuff, I would go with the Solutions. Fire breathers!!!

All the bands you mentioned use a ceramic magnet pickup, though, I believe at one point Carpenter was using a JB. I'd look into the Solution or the Garuda w/a ceramic magnet.
