So yeah, I'm over 40 & out of shape, but in 30+ years of playing guitar, this is the first time I've ever gotten "Tennis Elbow" from playing... I don't play racket sports anymore & it's in the arm of my fretting hand so I know it's not from jerking off or anything......wrong arm!

Anyone else ever have this happen? It suck's being in pain when I'm gigging.......

Happening to me right now. Really sucks. The weirdest thing is I never had any issues until i went from 13 gauge strings down to 10s. Now with 10s my arm kills me. I have been working out, so I'm not sure if I hurt it working out or not. But 2 months and it's not getting better. :(

I had the same problem and it's getting better now.

Not sure if it comes from playing or lugging around gear actually. Took it easy for quite a while and after 2-3 months it's now getting better. It's a real bitch to get rid of this though.

Good luck and mojo for a quick healing process!

I'm going on a month with this shit..........I wore the arm-band thing for a couple of weeks & everything is fine........except for when I'm playing........by the end of the gig, It hurts like hell to even pick up my last beer!  :aww:

Thanks for the mojo brotha! BTW, I didn't realize it until I clicked a link to your youtube vids, some of your early vids are why I ended up buying a Shiva! Great work! Keep the Fire Burnin!

Rest and potassium with a good stretching technique will help...I had it for 3 yrs almost it was frikin horrible...

I had it for months and went for PT at a facility that used a cold laser which removed all the scar tissue and was better within a few weeks.

I used to get it in my picking hand/arm. It was from (I assume) not moving my wrist at all when picking fast - I would basically have a controlled spasm with my elbow. My right arm was so strong from jerking off so much I could squeeze a chunk of coal and turn it to diamonds.

I now pick with my wrist and although I can't pick nearly as fast as I once could I no longer lose sleep at night because of elbow pain.

I got it bad a few years back. It was a combination of using 10-52's and working out.

I'm using 9-42's now and I use less weight when I work out. If I work out a lot, then it comes back with a vengeance.

I'm trying to get some decent workouts in and I play a few hours a day everyday. When the pain comes back I stay away from the weights until the pain is gone.

It's a bitch because I have put on 15lbs over the last few yrs and it's hard to get it off without working out regularly, but I can't take the pain when I play :(

Oh man, that's not what I wanted to hear. It was hard enough getting back into working out. Gonna try some of the suggestions listed here, see how it goes. Maybe just hit the cardio more.
