Testament using Kempers on current tour

Funny how he mentions Megadeth having trouble with their Fractals...wonder what happened?

Anybody know the brand name of the 3 guitar vault Eric is talking about?

Nightwish is also using a Kemper on thier US tour, I think they wrapped that tour up already this year.

This is where using a Kemper or AxFX really makes sense. A lot of these touring bands are relying on their live shows to pay the bills nowadays. The cost of moving a huge guitar rig around or backline rental costs can really eat into their bottom line. This is saving these guys thousands in overhead costs. For the average Joe like myself, it doesn't matter what I use because I'm doing all the work humping the gear to and fro. I'll get paid the same either way. Might as well have a cool Marshall stack behind me!! :rawk:

I saw Megadave on their last tour using Snax II's and the sound was the best that they ever had. I definitely see this as the wave of the future for touring bands, it just makes sense. It's like drum triggers, the same sound every single nice and less gear, why not use it.

Which band did Eric say has 80 of them? Metallica? Couldn't catch that.

Guy doing the interview looks like the first time he's seen any modeling gear. :scared:

It did sound like Metallica but they use AxeFX so I'm not sure.

He did say that but must be confused or just have bad info as Metallica has been using Fractal gear lately.

The reason Megadeth doesn't use Fractal any longer was because Mu$taine found out Metallica was using it.

I had been meaning to watch these Rig Rundowns. Thanks for the reminder! :)

For these bands, it's much easier now to fly-in with just a guitar and a kemper box. I'm not sure if they necessarily prefer the Kemper tone-wise or feel-wise (or else he wouldn't be using tube amps still as his main US rig), but for traveling there's nothing better.

The Kemper also makes a great simple backup as well to the tube amp and negates the need for lugging a second backup tube amp.

That video was shot Apr 22. I saw them about a week before, on Apr 16. After the show was over, I watched the crew tear down the stage. I saw with my own eyes Skolnick's 2 Budda heads stacked on top of each other, with nothing else on top, unlike in the video where the Kemper is on top of the heads. I also saw Peterson's amp/rack road case with an EVH head in it. Thats nowhere to be seen in the video. Now, maybe they changed things up in the interim or their Kempers were out of sight, but thats what I saw, and presumably heard, that night.

Otherwise is also using them. Sounded great in person opening for Buckcherry. (I hate Buckcherry)

Last time Testament rolled through my work, they were using Budda and EVH. Time before Skolnik was using Mode4 and it sounded like absolute shit.

When my band opened for them last year, they had 5150 halfstacks, and honestly I was surprised they sounded as good as they did considering those speakers. I think they're back in KC next month; I'll have to check them out again.

How could you tell what speakers they were using ?

Well, error on my part because I was assuming they were stock speakers.
