I was at the Born of Osiris show last night in Tampa. Thy Art Is Murder was on the bill. One guitarist used a Bogner Uberschall and the other much to my surprise used a 5153 mini. Absolutely crushing tone for the Australian Deathcore band. It cut and sounded great. I own one and it is just such a great piece of gear for my Lamb of God sounding project. I was surprised though on how well it delivered on the 7 string detuned pummeling tone. :)

I'm borrowing the 100w head right now from a RT bro and they really are amazing amps. IMO, one of the best stock high gainers out there. After recently getting to play a ton of high end amps, I think they really can hang with the best of em.

Interesting. I always pictured them as Axe-FX People.

I have never played the 5153 mini, but I definitely think it would be high on the list if I were looking at tube heads right now. I usually dont like 50W amps, but that particular amp seems to have it all.

Yeah they were sharing the Axe FX Ultra...slaving it into 2 5150 half stacks or something like that on the interview I read several months back. They killed it with the Uber/5153 mini setup tho. The mini sounds good in many different environments. A buddy of mine loves his in his country band lol...

I've played the big brother a half dozen times now and I'm usually in Drop C.

The thing just will not flub out. I can see why a lot of heavier bands use these. That and they do so many other genres well...as mentioned.

I play death metal and thrash in B standard or drop A and occasionally I toss my 8 string in front of it. I boost the blue channel and it never lets me down at all.

This. Even at really high volume it just stays together.

I just ordered one last night. I got to use a 100 as a backline for a week and liked it. I went to try them both yesterday at GC. The 50 sounded better to me at low volumes and Im taking everyone's advice that I read that the 50 is very loud. The 50 has more gain on channel 2. The 100 has less gain and needs to be turned up. On that tour I found myself stuck on channel 2 and used a pedal for leads. I didnt love 1 or 3 channel on 100. With the 50 I really liked the 2 and 3 transition much better and didnt mess with 1 enough to make a judgement but I wont use 1 too much. So hopefully it delivers at loud band volumes!

I'm really digging the red channel on the 50 watter. I don't need to have the gain up high at all (matter of fact I'm on 1!) to get a nice crushing metal tone.

Oddly, I used the mini in Australia as a rented Backline on tour over there and I loved it. Different from the big fella, I almost wish I had one, But, I've been playing the 100 watter since 2011 and haven't had a real need or desire to seek out a new amp at all. The blue channel's mid section is the TITS and I finally found a boost I like to give it that extra kick without coloring the sound, but the red sounds great too. Hell, green can also get killer tones. All around killer amp.

OMG this thing sounds so good. I love how cheap the 50 watter is and it sounds as good if not better than amp 3x the price. I love that this is available world wide as a backline option. I hope it passes the rehearsal test because at home it incredible. Not sure about the clean channel yet but I dont use clean too much

I don't think you'll be disappointed at rehearsal either. This thing gets meaner the more you turn it up. Just a sick amp for its size and price.
