Love the Mockingbird shape, especially with a natural flame or quilt top.

Yeah the classic natural finish with the creme Dimarzio pickups... gotta get one. My transblue Mockingbird Archtop Supreme is easily my fattest and loudest sounding guitar. The only problem with it is thats it's actually heavy. But the looks, tone and sustain is there in spaids.

I've played 4 or 5 different Mokingbirds over the years, and the weight was all over the map. Some were as light as my RG, 6-7 lbs. Others felt like a Les Paul, 12lbs +.

Mine is prolly around the 10-11lbs mark. Not terrible but like I said it's got some heft

That's a nice weight. Sure it sounds great too. I love my.RG and Artcore, super light weight. But they just don't sound like my heavy ass LP.

i played a nice dark red one with a scalloped board. everything about it was cool, but i just couldn't handle it being neck heavy. i played some $3k eagles at ed roman's shop in ct. great guitars.

Ive always loved the Mockingbird shape but am very picky about finishing details( I dont like the stringers, hate natural finishes as well as the crazy vari tone pickup switches. Jims guitar is the best example that I have ever seen or played and the fact that it has a floyd makes it all that much desirable..

Thanks brother Kage. In 97 when I ordered mine the store listened to exactly what I wanted and it's exactly what I got. The BC Rich custom shop makes them to order so... I just wish mine was lighter. My N4 and EBMM BFR are way more comfortable but the Mockingbird is fatter and louder sounding.

awesome shape!

Didn't Joe Perry sling one in the "cool" Aerosmith days?

In the 70s both Joe and Brad of Aerosmith played all kinds of BC Richs. I have read that the first two mockingbirds(shorthorn) went to Joe and his roadie. The Mockingbird was actually a design submitted by a local bass player that went by the name of Jonny A Go-go who worked at Whittier Plaza music. Johnny gave Bernie a drawing of the Mock on a piece of paper and ask if they'd build it. Johnny got the first Mock bass for his design. You can read all about the BC Rich history and see old photos showing just how handmade these guitars were made here

Never liked any BC Rich stuff  Just not my style at all. If some one gave me one I'd sell it and buy something else. Just fugly imo

does my love for Musicmans make up for that Jimmy? ;)

lol well I guess. Actually if build quality was the topic I would definitely go EBMM. My BFR is so nice it's sick.

OK, it was only a matter of time until I see a Mockingbird thread and pimp my Slash Custom Shop bird!

All those goofy active electronics do nothing, really, so I had them diasbled, along with the tone control. So its, pickups - volume - output.
