I read about that. :)

Sounds like he's got some bank investors behind him from the article I read as well.

This service is tied directly to your account, so there's no cover from a card if it "bounces".

The CFO of my company said if all the tenants paid rent via this way with the .25 cent flat fee they would save 4 million a year.

I'd like to see the death of Ebay and their fucking 9% bend you over fee. FUCK THEM. :gethim:

Currently only in the US. But when it comes to Canada, bye-bye Paypal. 25 cents is a fair price.

Who needs Dwolla to make a cash transfer from their own checking account? I can use my debit card or write a check for free and save 25 cents and not have to give yet another 3rd party my social security number.

My tenant pays me with a check.......doesn't cost either of us a cent.

It adds up as you scale up.

But yeah, that's the best option of course. :)

Are you comparing yourself to a REIT, it adds up as you scale up.

Well if you're a REIT, I'm sure you have a very good banking relationship. Whether you deposit one rent check or 1,000 rent checks there is still no fee.

Dwolla is one way to pay online, and it's only a cash transaction, no credit. The money is taken directly from the senders checking account. I'm not sure why I would need an intermediary to make a cash payment. They're getting $$ for nothing. I'll make my own cash payments without Dwolla's help and 25 cent fee. The last thing I need is another place for my social security number and other sensitive information to be stored. And what is so bad about credit?

Many folks use credit to their advantage. Credit is fine if used wisely, and Paypal fees and merchant credit card fees are pretty much the same. Don't know what all the hate on Paypal is for.

They have to take card transactions at their level, and paying this way would save money even if it was just a percentage.

But you're right this service is tied directly to your account, and they ask for a SS number to verify it.

Not saying it's perfect, but it's nice to see some competition in the arena.

Supposedly there's a push coming this month, interesting to see what develops.

Agreed!

Actually, I think it's genius. First, they start a company that facilitates online cash only payments and generates a buzz by publicizing how "cheap" the service is. Congratulations, you've just spent 25 cents more than you could have to make a cash payment out of your own checking account.

Dwolla is nothing at all like Paypal which allows funding with a credit card. So at the appropriate time, when Dwolla has a large captive audience, they will introduce credit, which of course they will have to charge more for.

I don't mind PayPal's fees, but it's risky for honest dealers to use the service, because PayPal almost always sides with the buyer if there's a dispute... and people place bullshit tickets out all the time.

I hope paypal dies, they ruined selling on ebay with their outrageous fees and policies.

social security numbers are nothing these days.10 yrs ago i lived in OK.they put your SS# right on your checks so when ya write a check ,whoever the check is to, has your SS#.not sure if they still do it.

not sure it will be the end of paypal, but at least it will put pressure on them to adjust their fees. win/win

I don't mind PayPal's fee's and I don't expect something for nothing from anyone.

What about when Dwolla gets hacked and your checking account gets sucked dry because the have your SSN and direct access. No thanks.....for now. Will be quite happy having other people test it out.
