I just watched some video demos of the EXH LPB and instead of a clean boost it really seems more like a one knob overdrive. Knowing how things tend to stack up for one end or another, does anyone use an LPB in the context of a certain rig or layout where it actually functions as a clean boost without clipping the hell out of your tone?

it will give you a clean boost only up to a certain point then it clips... clips kinda ratty too. can you solder? its like 4 components. I remember in high school electronics making one. So you need a straight clean boost. how many DB you think? or better yet volume in percentages?

Only the Creation Audio Labs Mk.4:23 Pro, dude. It slams your front end with up to 30dB of CLEAN, dead QUIET, noiseless, pure signal boost. It lets your amp take the clipping business, and sounds truly amazing. I think the pedal is now available in the standard version which is +24dB

Peace,
Mo

Nahh, I'm not looking to buy one. I actually just built a JFET one knob preamp type boost from scratch parts I had lying around. I was just looking to compare what I heard here with the schematic I somewhat based it off of, which is the LPB. Come to find out through videos that It hard clips like a mofo, and I just wondered why it was such a popular clean boost when it really doesn't do its job very well.

I use an old 70's LPB2 in my rig. In front of my super reverb it is a massive clean volume boost, but using the same setting around 1 o'clock-- in front of a Marshall, it acts like an OD pedal. Surprisingly it's not noisy.

ill second the creation audio stuff.......,cool guys too.

  I first used this pedal in the late70's/early 80's in front of my old 4 hole Marshall Super Lead, and it took me from 70's classic rock tones to Van Halen, Judas Priest gain levels. Then fast forward to a few years ago, I put one in front of my Mojave Peacemaker, and it was MAGICALLY perfect. I use it in front of my Metro 12xxx that Jerry modded (the white one, pictured in my sig), and it's fun fun fun. I had to sell the Peacemaker a while back, but will get another and use this pedal in front of that for tonal bliss, once again. Oh ya!!!
