Aside from a decent tuner pedal and something like an SD1/OD808/TS9 ...... Noise Gates/Clamps..... Reverb or delay...... Compressors.....

I really feel the EQ gets overlooked...... And especially as simple as this one that is so basic yet so effective and full of good stuff.

Ima put down EQ and especially the MXR 6 Band.....

What do you consider an overlooked essential/element for your gear/rig?

Some kind of capo pedal as I call them now. I have to be able to switch tunings up and down. I'm trying out the new Boss stuff now. The XS-1 and the XS-100.

I don't know that any elements are "overlooked" but basically what I want for a typical gig:
- guitar with both humbucker and single coil sounds & Floyd (country gigs this is usually Certano benders)
- backup guitar
- wireless
- headstock tuner
- amps and/or pedals with 4 sounds: Fender clean, pushed Fender, distorted rhythm, distorted lead
- a compressor (Keely etc.)
- a wah
- a low 300ms slapback delay
- reverb
- a post-everything volume pedal/MIDI device and a way to get signal to/from and control it
- a power section/amp capable of 50w+
- a 1x12 or 2x12 cab with 100dB+ efficiency speakers with a mid-notch, with casters depending on weight

If I was going to say something's "overlooked", I'd say the volume pedal. Amp knobs are a horrible way to control volume, and volumes set at soundcheck rarely reflect what actually happens with bodies in the room and people playing for real.

A compressor. I always seem to have one running. Maybe this is a bassist thing, but it evens out dynamics and spank on cleans and makes them sparkle. You don't really need it at high gain, because distortion is compression for the most part, but I leave it on anyways. Bonus points if the compressor has enough headroom to boost a bunch. Then it's a clean boost too.

They really are helpful when playing cleans.

A cab built like brick house & the right speakers (whatever they happen to be for your particular taste)

Seriously, it makes it so much easier to EQ any amp & actually enjoy the flexibility of playing different guitars.

I'm a simple metal player. Essentials are a good, cooking bass amp with some crunch, a boost to kick it in the balls, and a good guitar with dual humbuckers. I always enjoy a good wah and a volume pedal out front to manage things, and something swirly for those occasional times I need it.

Everything else is just a flavor here and there, and in practice never gets used. (I used to love building complicated rigs - even got paid for doing it for others at one point - but at the end of the day, I just want to play pretty stripped back.)

For cleans tape echo, tremolo, and spring reverb.

For dirt Keeley Java, and Game Changer Plasma Pedal, or both stacked.

Mesa Marks have all the EQ I need, and Mark cabs move the air.

I feel naked without this however, The King of Picks:
