Doctor Love
Ever since I saw the first Ibanez Jem, I wanted one badly! But that price, though! Oy, I'm not made of that kind of money so the dream got set aside. But now there's a Jem for the rest of us and it's called the Jem Jr. How "Junior" is it? Does it scratch that itch?
Well, we get to find out because Earle Teat Music in Delmar, Delaware let me take this black beauty to Smile or Die! Studios so that I can share it with you all!
I did the entire demo on the Positive Grid Spark and even included a Spark jam!
Shop Local and have a gloriously Mediocre weekend!

thanks for doing this bro! I have always wondered about those....
Me too and you're welcome! I think most people would want to change the pickups but that's an easy fix. The basics are solid but I'm sure there's a way different "feel" with the expensive one. I've never actually touched a real one.

I remember over a decade ago seeing one of these used in a GC in Baton Rouge for like $500....still regret not snagging it

Ive been thinking about buying one of the jr. BUT idk why other than a cool factor. I play my DY 25th anniversary one and got it for just over 3k. Wish I had gotten both that the store had-shocking pink. I’ll say the real one plays very very well. I cannot comment on the jr.

My only gripe with the Jr’s is that fucking jatoba fingerboard. Every one I’ve played feels like some kind of composite version of the driest rosewood that’s ever existed and I’ve heard it doesn’t take oils well.

If I can find one that doesn’t feel like shit I’d buy it, the necks on them have felt very similar to my 7V and for a couple hundred extra bucks in hardware/pickups you can have a pretty nice JEM.

I just did a GrG with a Jatoba neck and yes it was super dry but lemon oil brought it right around. I had it for another two days and when I took it back to the store it was still dark and sufficiently moist.
