Spun as a "golden age" when "jews, christians, and muslims all lived in peace in Spain etc". Yeah, jews and christians who paid the jizya TAX for not being muslim lived in relative peace. But they still had a tax on their religion. Then we have modern historians spinning the dark ages as a terrible time when it fact it was a golden age for Byzantine orthodoxy, pre-Islamic invasion. Up is down, left is right, good is bad, repression is freedom, etc.
