i tried to like it.

really i did.

for the price it was a no brainer to at least try for 30 days.

but last night, as i tried yet again to create a pleasing tri-chorused clean tone, zachman calls me on the phone and plays the tri stereo chorus emulation on his eventide H8000 mono through a JVM.

unbelievable. so complex, yet SO transparent---perfect spacial movement.

so the bottom line is:

1) i know too much about the effects the m13 is modeling to accept their unreasonable facsimiles, imo

2) and i can't compromise my tone to the point where i lose inspiration and pride in my tone.

yanked it, and went back to:
tone press->bb preamp->arion chorus->eggie tol 100->send to gforce->out of gforce to eggie return->amp out to EV 1x12.

TONE.

next project: fletcher landau pickups

oh and for the record-

i tried the mxr carbon copy and the boss space echo pedal and the EH memory man with hazari, and the EH echo pedal. good but no cigar.

way huge swollen pickle. not my cup of tea.

boss blues driver....my fave of the night!

fender vibrolux. great amp, started loving it until it started making huge shorting out noise.

tried the super champ XD and really dug it for a practice amp vibe..

vibrolux and blues driver was my setup, I sold the vibrolux. Now I have a Tele and Twin. I have been listening to a lot of George Harrison's stuff, right after the Beatles. All things must pass....truly badass shit.

You need to stay with the Tone of Life. It seems to be the only constant in your Gear quest.

I wonder if the tri-chorus on the new gmajor 2 will be worth the upgrade. I have been trying to recreate the acoustic sound that metallica get on ONE, but failed every time.

Buy a Roland JC120 and you got it.

Aww man, some great moments were had with that little pedal board Pat. :)

So when you getting an AxeFX Ultra?

there are 2 threads on HRI-
One with James Santiago playing a sparkledrive into a fender combo

And one with micheal Thompson playing a rc booster into his studio fx

Great tones--tubes.

After all the recent delays I tried I still say the replex I had smoked them all.

And I am really jonesing for fender amp/ single coil sparkle and sweetness.

I was struggling with the tone using the m13 and as soon as I went back to my normal setup, the tone was right again.

Besides the fletcher landau pickups, I'd like a Mojave 2x12 with a jensen or tone tubby for clean and a celestion gold or scumback for the dirt.

I never liked the tone of the jc120 as far as a raw amp goes.

The 13 had some good points. The looper, some crazy fx--but the organic stuff--drives, analog and tape delays, chorus....had pretty flat resolution.

How about another mentoneman video?

What cab are you using for the EV 1x12?

I too would like to be able to use a Fender 1x12 for that single coil shimmer--and then find the right OD box for it to get Egnater style smooth overdrive. Maybe the upcoming Renegade will fit my need.

the ev is in a Hughes and ketner ported closed back cab, which matthias jabs endorsed back in the day.

The renegade is a great amp-I spent the most time with that one at NAMM.
Reminded me of my old TOL 50, with better top end chime on the cleans, and more control over the drive qualities.
Egnater is one of the best I've found to give you fender cleans and marshally dirt in one box.

It's tough bruddah cuz-- because your tone requirements for your equipment palette, is so diverse and yet specific at the same time. The tones you hear in your head, are the ones which address/squelch the myth that tones are "ALL" in the hands (IF only it were true, then any old gear hooked up any old way would do, and our accountants would still be alive today), but nope, not for some of us, who've been to the TOP of Gear and Tone mountain. Your hands can/DO definitely coax some nuances out of gear like no one else, and you definitely have used a LOT of really good gear, and have become spoiled like me--with your sonic and textural requirements.

I am dying to know about the Super Reverb...

'Runs' to phone to call you.

Edit, darn it, you aren't picking up... Oh well, Anticipation...

I wanted to buy your Replex :(

I did not think the M13 would make you happy in the long run as you have drank from the fountain of the holy trinity of fx and have to admit that I have been rather spoiled by my current rig.

When you've been to the top of the mountain the only place to go is..

No, he actually has my rig at his house. He was listening to just the Eventide over the phone, but his perspective of the tones that come from my rig, is one not shared by many. (Soon to be remedied) ;)

brah all I am sure of is once you get this rig totally dialed in, there will be many rack converts on Oahu, and a general 90s rack renaissance! except that H8000 is definitely not 90s!!!!

there is no denying when standing in the sound field of this bad boy that the tone potential is of a caliber that few have actually honestly experienced, and that the appreciation of such a killer rig is involuntary.

and with the super reverb, marshall 30th anni, and mark III pulling amp chores you have the cores nailed.

i'm still thinking eggie mod 50 with vox and COD modules for those platform vox and dumble tones, or a dumble type zendrive or ethos pedal on the fender, and turning the marshall into the Peacemaker!

eric johnson clean tone? done.

vh dirt? yep.

john sykes? easy.

landau? of course.

petrucci? piece o cake!

robben ford? why not?

and all accessible from the touch of a button on the foot controller.

i think the biggest challenge will be those earthy bluesy pedal into combo type tones...the hendrixy/burning water tones and srv tones...
