It has come to my attention that some people did not know we make a rock/metal amplifier called the "Mantis". It has been around for a few years now and is being used by Artists like Zach Myers of Shinedown, Joel Stroetzel of Killswitch Engage, Troy Mclawhorn used it with Seether and to record Evanescence's new album, Dave Lizzio and Rasheed Thomas from Nonpoint and Bc Kochmit from Eye Empire.

We will be expanding the Mantis line and adding a 3 channel version as well as a Mantis Jr.

you can check it out here: http://www.fuchsaudiotechnology.com/amps/the-mantis

And video here: http://www.fuchsaudiotechnology.com/video.php?id=12

you should send one to fractal audio for modeling, then EVERYONE will know about it!

I played Joels once courtesy of his younger brother, badass head , thick as thieves and organic sounding.

I doubt you'll be winning over too many customers with that video; the cleans/light overdrive tones sound fantastic but the high gain rhythms sound gross! :scared:

Thank You! Not a fan of that video myself. I know what my Mantis sounds like, I have heard it live and in studios and that is not it ;)

Here is one of our Endorsers, Bc Kochmit of Eye Empire who recorded with the Mantis for their new CD "Impact". You can hear the dirty much better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWK8qQylkf8

Well I am now having a new video made for the Mantis....never liked that one and Devin's comment gave me the incentive to get on getting a new one done. I wanted Andy to do it but he does not play metal, lol :)

Now that sounds awesome!! Can't wait to check out the new video!

P.S. loan me a Mantis for a week and I'd be happy to record some metal clips with it :D :D

I agree completely. As stated by someone else, the cleans sound great, but that distortion demo of it is terrible. My guess is because the gain is dimed, which on pretty much every amp, just results in mud and eliminates all clarity and definition to let the amp show the over and undertones.

There was some market feedback.

Usually there is a reaction.

I like he Blackjack 21. Interesting to see how they approach the high gain market.

Actually the Mantis is not muddy at all on the dirty side, which is why the artists using it love it so much. Lots of string definition, but you are right, based on the video it is hard to tell that.

I have Bc Kochmit of Eye Empire putting something together for me now. He is going to record live through their board while they are actually on stage so you can hear it and then do some basic demo stuff as well. We will see how that turns out :)

The Blackjack is a killer amp and we sell LOTS of them. I am digging the little 4 watter right now. I had some metal guys at a demo of mine playing it and they were loving it! Go figure, lol.

Also loving the Full House 50 with the EL34's in it...really versatile amp. Cleans up nice and dirties up really well.

BTW- The Mantis just got reviewed in the new edition of Guitar Player Magazine. Pg. 104 check it out ;)

I haven't seen or heard the video in question... but I know that the Mantis ends up on pretty much EVERY rock, hard rock, and metal album that I produce at my studio. We have a sizable amp collection, and the Mantis is definitely one of the most-used.

Interesting... could you tell us more about this Mantis Jr. model? Thanks!

Thanks for chiming in Mikefroedge. Maybe you can post a snippet of a few things you've recorded ? Having heard some of your recordings I can say, your guitar tones "on record" are outstanding. Your producing and recording credits and awards are most-deserved !

Ralph Carbone (gainfreak on a few forums, maybe here... ) did a bunch of excellent recordings on the previous version (The Viper), which were well received a few years ago. Ralphie, you out there ?! :)

For the record; The original Viper was changed to the Mantis, at the request of Peavey to eliminate market confusion. They were actually very nice about it. Despite internet blather to the contrary, we were not sued. It was actually professional and friendly.

The Mantis got the additional global master as a result of the panel change, which many users suggested on the earlier models. Older units (Frost/Viper) can be upgraded to Mantis at our shop.

The Mantis Jr is currently in development with a target introduction date of NAMM 2013. It's based on the Casino chassis size, two channels with shared EQ, one channel is low gain and one is high gain, 50 and 100-W versions around 2-K target retail.
