That's funny. the other day at tgp they were doing the Dave and Sammy debate. Like 17 pages or something. Anyway, people always say how clever Roth's lyrics are and I quoted that exact line.

check out the AW99 at mahaffey amps .com
killer tones small amp .

Those actually sound like a pretty interesting concept. COuldn't listen to youtube clips. At work... will check out later.

the dude knows his stuff. if you have a plexi spec marshall or clone and you install the PPIMV, you get a tone very very close to real VH tone. what he did was include the PI in circuit and then set it up so you can od dry/wet / wet/ or anycombiniation thereof or just about anything. its the whole slave concept in a tidy little setup with tons of ways to run it.

I was the first person to buy a Mod 5 from Rockstah. If you look up his Soundclick page, "Amp for customer Brad" is mine. He absolutely nailed the "Brown Sound" formula. Mark was a phenomenal guitarist, but even a better amp tech. I'm always on the lookout on eBay for another Mod 5, lest anything happen to mine. RIP, Mark.

I was expecting a picture of a turd in (or out of) a toilet...

I own the last amp that Mark(Rockstah)Abrahamian-RIP modded before he passed away which is a Rockitt Retro 68 plexi clone-Mod5.The amp by itself with out any effects or post sounds like early van halen better then any amp out there that I have tried-played and ive been though many amps.Mark did put alot of time(years)into achieveing that sound.Mark and I had many conversations about the early van halen sound and also when he was modded my amp(add this tweak that).I was offered crazy money for this amp by a amp collector in japan and I turned it down. Anyway just my 2 cents.....

I thought I was gonna find clips of Rockstah........ rip. :aww:
If I was gonna make a thread not FN around about that tone....Mark's amps would be at the top of the list for me...
no doubt!
RIP Rockstah

I think it was Mark who was more responsible than the amp for that sound. He posted clips of an amp that was dead on the VH tone. He then sold the same amp to someone else who also posted clips, and it sounded nothing at all like a VH tone. I mean, not even close.

And some Led Zep. Here's what a Boss CE-2 sounds like with a LP and Marshall. No modelers or profilers!
Wow, that VH cover was outstanding!

I like to think of the Brown Sound as an ice dancer, dressed in an all-white jumpsuit, and doing interpretive dances of my life's journeys!
