So I sent the VH2 with the apparent cold solder joint back. I dropped it off at the same GC I ordered it from on Saturday and they ordered me another one .
The replacement arrived today , first thing I noticed was the box was different , it was a little smaller and the top was different . The other box had tops that spanned the whole top of the box .It did however have the diezel logo on it . Second thing I noticed was it wasn’t factory sealed . It was instead taped shut . Basically it looked like what you would expect to get from an individual. It also had what was left of a old label on it .
I opened it up to find a VH2 wrapped in bubble wrap . No power cord , no footswitch , no Manuel.
The top has what appears to be a spot that has been repaired with a vinyl repair kit.
So you guessed it Guitar center sent me a used head .

I called them up and they said they had a limited number of those heads and after I returned it they would ship me another one . I told them I’m just returning it . I don’t want to wait another week or two
For what ever they may send next .

They also said that since I traded a head towards this I would have to take a store credit for that $1000.
Like hell I will . Did I go to GC and offer to trade my amp for a store credit ? Fuc$ no I didn’t .
So I’m headed to GC tomorrow after work to fight with them . I’m gonna try the head later and if it works and they will let me have it for a really really deep discount I may keep it . Or I could go to jail tomorrow . We will see

I would also let Peter Diezel or BAD their US
Distributor know about this
It doesn’t make them look very good

just played it and put it back in the box. It seems to work ok,sounds like it should. when I put it back in the box I noticed the box is for a Hagen.
So if GC will sell it to me for $1600 I'll keep it. Seems like a fair price for a used head to me. IF not then we will see.

Good luck, man! GC is always a crap-shoot, at least IME.

*Definitely* let Peter and BAD know about this...

They've got it listed for $1699

Who is BAD?

No need to go to jail my friend. Life is too short for that shit. I've been in jail many many times and nothing in this word is worth going for.

Boutique Amp Distribution, they are the US distributor.

So I returned the amp and got a full refund including what they allowed me in my trade. The manager at GC said they source these from wherever they can and it probably came from another store. So that says to me that some piece of $hit store manager saw the chance to try and sell a used head as new.
I wasn’t about to order another one and wait a week hoping for the best only to possibly have to drive 30 minutes to return it again. It’s a waste of time and gas. What makes it worse is I bought a quartet of tubes to go in it while I had the 1st head and they came while I was waiting on the second head as well as a $55 Tuki cover.
So I’m down $140 in accessories for an amp I don’t have.A nd not even a free set of strings for my trouble.
Can’t afford to buy a new one from somewhere else .i was only able to get this one because of the additional %15 off they offered on a trade.
FUC$ Guitar center I'll never darken their door again

oh I learned something new today that you may or may not already know.
If you buy something new from the "online store". It's not coming from a warehouse like it does when you buy from musicians friend. It's coming from whatever store has it in stock. So you may be paying premium prices for a floor model

Different store but Dick's Sporting Goods does something similar. I ordered online a couple years ago for my kids Christmas stuff. 4 items were ordered and I received 4 different packages all shipped from different locations and all packed for shite!

well I got another VH2 on the way . Not from GC though .Bought it used over on TGP

Why would you say that?
I've bought many gear from TGP and they have been all excellent.
