Any fans here?? I'm stuuuck on secret of the runes album right now, it's so badass. Heavy metal + opera is a great combination (not lame powermetal singing) and I usualy can't stand opera ;p

Kristian Niemann is one of my favorite guitarist currently, even if the band is not really guitar driven, but the solos!!!! I love his phrasing and two hand tapping legato stuff. it's just so cool.

It's my favourite album of Therion. The ones before – not counting the really early ones – are more gothic rock, and the later ones are too close to Abba pop and not metal enough. I also love the guitar tone of the opening track, Ginnungagap... I guess it's a Triaxis on some sort of rectifier-ish setting; even though I'm usually not so into recto tones, it sounds great!

Of course with a whole orchestra and choir behind you, you could probably play a pocket POD and it'd still sound impressive...

Therion is an awesome band. We played with them on their last US tour (I think it was their last one). Really cool guys, very humble and down to Earth.
